dogs top forms are.. wolves, hyenas (though some researches are saying its more cat related than dog so another one for the cat family???) foxes, coyotes
while cats are.Lions, tigers, panthers/jaguars, Leopards, mountain lion.the list goes on and on.
but even in domestic, cats win, brains beat physical brute strength
Dogs are smarter than cats(not all breeds though). This is a thing that has been shown again and again. While your cat may actually be smarter than my dog, dogs as a species in general, are smarter. However many times they do things we consider dumb, but are actually somewhat intelligent. While cats are more of the opposite. They do things that seem smart, but are actually dumb.
A simple thing is this. Look at all the tricks some dogs are capable of. Then look at the smaller number that cats can do.
I hear of dogs, being trained for all sorts of jobs such as bomb sniffing, and being a seeing eye dog. But never a cat for anything.
I have a dog that is smart enough to pick up his food/ water bowl, and bring it to our feet all the way across the house for us to refill it, despite us not training him at all(not even how to sit).
In brains, dogs beat cats. For people with special needs(ie blind etc) dogs beat cats. For companionship, dogs beat cats. For personalities dogs beat cats. They generally though are more troublesome than cats, and need more attention.
Cats however can be more interesting to watch, dont have to have a pet door to use the bathroom, and are great for rodent control. They also dont need nearly as much of the attention dogs need.
In the end though, the true winner of cats vs dogs though is what the person prefers. If you prefer a cat, then cats are better. If you prefer a dog, then dogs are better.
