Ok so, Im nothing big in the gym, and I don't feel bad about saying that. I've been going for about, 6 months now.
And honestly, I have gotten great results.

What im seeing though, is people caring to much about others in the gym.
For instance, I see people shy away from the light weights because they are afraid of someone saying something, instead, they go for the heavy weights, the weights they can't really control, but hey, your lifting some pretty heavy weight there.

Thats where injuries come in. No one wants to have a damaged rotater cuff or a ripped tendon. That shit would suck.

This thread is for those who want to go to the gym, but are afraid of what others might say.
I honestly was the same way, But guess what, you have to start somewhere right.
Now when I started benching, I could only lift about 50 to 60 pounds. Since then I have more than doubled it.

If your thinking about going to the gym, stop thinking about it and just do it already. It will literally change your life.
You will be more confident, you will get compliments almost everyday, and your social life will also be better, even if its good already. It will just make your life better. And hopefully, you could help out others with the same situation along the way. It will make you feel good.

Just felt like I needed to say this, thanks for reading and good night!

I see this all the time. I lift fairly heavy weights, and then I see this kid look over at me and try to lift the same weights as I when I could tell he just started going; he started swinging.

Then there's another one that swings dumbbells all the time.....and it's not subtle swings, but big long swings where he literally tilts his body into a crouching position.

I also remember one guy tried to show off and tried to bench press 300lb......he arched his back to the point where I thought he was going to break his spine

he only did 2 reps.....with help from his friend lol

I can go on and on about working out at the gym, and how to focus on one muscle group/day to get the best results. I'm a bit of a gym nut myself, and I prefer to have bigger muscles. But you're absolutely right, you can't start off big you gotta start off small, or else you'll hurt yourself.

...once you hurt yourself you'll take a few steps back and reset your priorities, I hurt my left shoulder doing 80 lb dumbell military presses, towards the end of my set, I was getting exhausted, and my left arm started to fall back and i heard this nice crunch sound. You know you hurt yourself when your whole body goes numb for what feels like a few minutes and time seems to stand still as you're realizing what just happened, when in reality it has only been a few seconds. Luckily my doctor took a look at it and called in a Physical therapist and nothing serious happened, more like if it would have been just a tad bit worse I would have seriously messed up my left shoulder, so I can't stress the safety of weightlifting. ...my spotter wasn't exactly being vigilant  Plus I was tired from work, should have been a sign.

Also, just because you hurt yourself is no reason to fall off the horse, after a couple months I got back into working out my shoulders, while healing I did minimal lifting, maybe some bicep exercises, but that's really it. I kept doing my cardio though, ...cardio hate it (But very important)

It depends on what you want, if you want to be more lean, go for it, I prefer more muscle.
