Because he's trying to protect his friends as an overall... He didn't say that just for Kakashi... Remember when Obito questions him about his statement after he kills Neji... Then Naruto almost succumbs to Obito but Hinata saves him...? Remember that? Kakashi wasn't the reason he said that. You're clearly wrong yet you want me to give up.
