Pokemon massive sales

Nintendo has announced Pokemon X and Y have managed to sell more than 4 million copies worldwide in two days.

As the game launched globally in Japan, Europe and the Americas on Saturday, this figure reflects how many units were purchased by the end of Sunday October 13.

No other Pokemon title has been released globally, so while an accurate comparison is hard to make, Nintendo has announced that if regional data is combined and compared, Pokemon X and Y is easily the fastest-selling 3DS title of all time.

Additionally, the company also gave some insight into the lifetime total sales of other entries in the franchise. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl are the best performers, having sold 17.63 million units worldwide, following by Ruby and Sapphire with 16.22 million units, Black and White with 15.42 millions units, HeartGold and SoulSilver with 12.67 million units and FireRed and LeafGreen with 12 million units.

Seeing as Pokemon X and Y sales are already 70 percent up compared with Pokemon Black 2 and White 2, Nintendo is no doubt hoping that the latest Pokemon adventure will be the title that challenges GTA V's recent spree of broken records.

- Nintendo Mascots (Mario, Link, Samus, etc.)

There is that and the fact that they make awesome games and consoles.

The DS wrecked the PSP.

The 3DS utterly destroyed the VITA.

And Nintendo has fun games, with innovative features.

The DS and 3DS sold more merely because they released games based off of classics, while the PSP and VITA mainly released games by newer, more abstract companies. The PSP and VITA had much, much more potential IMO.

Not entirely true @bold

The DS took big risk with games The World Ends With You. It had a lot of diversity. Just like the 3DS right now. The classics are there but there are also new IPs being introduced.

IMO DS > PSP in potential but I do agree that the VITA is a fantastic piece of hardware, even more so than the 3DS in terms of capabilities. But too many bad sides : the price, proprietary memory cards ruins it. It'a vicious circle, no games means no sales because people won't invest their money on such a platform and no sales means no games because companies will invest where a lot of people can buy them... I hope it survives. Competition is good for the gaming industry

It is not. It's one of the best Pokemon games to date. Most people are loving it. Get it
