Because Uchiha and Hyuga are known for their visual prowess. It has been shown numerous times throughout the series that people are willing to kill for their eyes.

DNA doesn't help, because the eyes must progress through various stages in order to be useful. A basic Madara clone would only have the potential for awakening the Sharingan. You would also need for your Madara clone to make and kill his best friend/lover. For every set of Sharingan eyes that you want, you would need two Madara clones, which you would need to raise as brothers. It would be too long of a process, and would take years to even get decent Sharingan eyes.
