Well, they were engaged by Jozu and Marco. But yeah, they certainly didn't give their all, unlike Akainu. But you can hold their personalities accountable for that. They're both laid back. Then again you could ask the same of most of the Shichibukai and Garp and Sengoku. If the Marines had gone all out from the word go. WB Pirates were doomed, especially since WB was no longer the same man he once was.

To be honest I don't think Whitebeard could...at the time when Whitebeard was fighting Aokiji and Kizaru he probably at best would have brought them to a tie same with Marco you have to remember Whitebeard was old and sick so he wouldn't have been able to keep up with the fighting style.

With Akainu even in a fit of rage Whitebeard was still struggling with him I mean Akainu took off half of his face and punched a hole in his stomach both fatal wounds and even when Marco and Vista both attacked Akainu with Haki in their attacks they still proved to be ineffective.

Basically Whitebeard with all his crew and his alliances stood no chance against the combined forces off the Marines and the Warlords.

But the thing that bugs me though is why WB simply couldn't imbue his bisento with haki while attacking a logia. I mean, he did so later when he was worse.

Well I think he did imbue his spear with Haki however the Admirals are like the the best of the best of the Logia users and I doubt Aokiji, Kizaru or Akainu can be defeated by just someone having Haki no matter who they are as by the looks of things Aokiji was smart enough to shape his body so Whitebeards spear would go through him yet at the same time he took no damage from Whitebeard if you get me.

It seems like the Admirals have become accustomed to their Logia type fruits that they can shape their bodies to avoid attacks unlike how most Logia's just let attacks go through them.

Hmm. That's interesting. WB was Top Tier though. I mean, if he can't hurt someone with his Haki, good luck to anyone who tries to. But maybe you do have a point. We'll find out eventually I guess.

Aokiji wasn't stabbed by the blade, he transformed his body into ice prior and opened his stomach up so the blade went through a hole, he just did it slickly so it looked like he got stabed.
