Dude I too am a musician and I play the Bass Guitar. Music is the language of the people, its the only way humans can truly understand one another... Its the most beautiful thing, and I have found my enlightenment from playing and creating my own music. My theory for why certain things sound good to certain people is because music is a frequency. Its a frequency that you can tune yourself to; my frequency adheres to Rock, Funk, Soul, Metal, Heavy Metal, Grunge, Classic Rock, honestly the list goes on, for me I am in tune with any genre that requires a guitar, bass guitar, and a drum set. However, Hip hop does not make sense to me... at least not the fake shit that is today, but 2pac, run dmc and the old stuff makes sense because they are real to themselves. Music is great man, I could honestly go on forever and ever about this. Led Zeppelin was the band that single handedly changed my fate forever, the first time I heard No Quarter.... it hit me so deep, its hard to describe over the internet, but I will never forget it, from that day I picked up a brand new bass guitar, and ive played it ever since then... best thing i ever did was put down my xbox controller and pick up my bass, havent played xbox since then, actually sold it. hahaha

Yeah dude, it's awesome. Plus, girls love us musicians

Well musical notes are sound vibrations. You process information through your senses and the vibrations of music attune to your thought waves. You could be listening to something you haven't heard in a long time and still recall the feeling the from the first time you heard it, even recall the from your memory sensors what you were doing. Music used to be used as healing treatment in egypt and greece because your whole body and mental states are on a vibratory scale.

Vibrations are very important in life, I'm not going to go into detail but a good example of this is if you set two guitars next to each other and hit any string on one guitar, the guitar next to it will play the exact same note. This is similar to what your brain does, when you hear music. Which could either elevate your mood or bring it down if your really attached.

This is also how I learned how to play every instrument through training my ear to recognize every vibration.

In my opinion, it's because Music is a beautiful art form that can make us escape reality and it's problems, even if it's for just a few moments.

Vibrations, Emotional responses, Stimuli, Memory recall...

It would be way easier if you just googled that question, but come on in't it obvious?

Ever been in your room in the dark and it's reeeeal quiet? Any unknown sound will probably trigger fear or any familiar sound will probably trigger a safe, warm feeling.

It's all got to do with the sounds, the vibrations and how your brain interprets those sounds and also your past experiences.

Notice in jaws that everytime someone was about to be eaten or the sharks where close by they would play that one very distinct sound?/song?

I believe it's because everything in life works on a rhythm, even your heart.

Illustrious.

[Hypothetical Ramble]
Music; regarded as universal language, appears within all cultures, looms throughout human history. Humans have historically listened to music, dating back to pre-historic humans. This suggests that it was a useful trait; dependent on it for survival. However, what differs music from other mandatory portions of humanity is that it possess no direct, explicit purpose, or so you [presuming that you do not know, as you asked a question] think.

Humans; Intelligent Creatures. Mankind is completely reliant on the expansive intelligence that they possess and fall behind in all comparisons in regards to physical prowess but excel in terms of emotional and mental fitness. Music [releases dopamine] suggests a mental reward. Music awakens both portions of the mind and encourage pattern recognition and memory. The left side of the brain is awakened due to the deciphering of the information that the music [whether verbal or not] is employing while the right is vivify from the rhythm.

Music maximizes the learning potential of a human due to the enlivenment of the two sides of the brain. This appears to be the reason behind why many consider music mandatory to successfully complete homework. Why certain rhythms appeal to us is questionable.. I presume due to consistency. However, many portions shall never be completely deciphered, adding to the mystique behind the prodigious art, known as music.

I wish I was good at playing an instrument. I play the piano a little, but I'm Patrick Star in comparison with Kobak.

Music helps us connect in many ways... For instance do you have a particular song that compares to your life.? Exactly.!!! Music feeds off of emotions and experiences of other people. Without it, this world would be rather dull.... When you dance or listen to music with other people and you say something like "This my song" or "I've been through this..." your connecting with the music itself and/or with the people with you. Music is used during sporting events to keep the crowd fired up and usually hear the crowd go from dead to alive screaming for their home team. Music connects with us in many ways.
