I agree. The GTA story was not great, I mean all you do is stealing. And rockstar hyped it too much by saying you can do 'everything'.

The Last of Us for now will be GOTY for now, or maybe Watch dogs. Watch dogs has a deep story-line too.

Take a look at one of Watch dogs multiplayer; you can go inside another person game without him notice, then troll the shit out of him. Creep someone out like this

Gta 5 is nice and a well rounded game but am I the only person who thinks that the game did not live up to its hype... (it's also the reason to why I'm going to Chicago [Watch Dogs] and I'm leaving Los Santos)

Hype truly is a poison, it ruins a lot of things for people. In the end nothing will ever live up to the fantasy people have surrounded it with, but GTA V sure is close.

GTA is overrated. I can say so much why Watch dogs is better.

* Better graphics, which means more living city, more NPS'c (with 1 million different NPC's which mean you won't see the same often) - Told by Jonathan Morin (creator)

* A deep story-line, which is not just about stealing stuff but about revenge for something in the past.

* Hacking a city, the idea is just wonderful

* A funny multiplayer idea

Meh, what I say won't do much, but you should rather see the gameplays and you'll notice how much better it is. It's a reason why it is designed for next-gen and not current gen.

Close? No no. There are many games that live up to the hype.

I'm not understanding, how does it not come close to the hype? Really it delivered everything that was promised and did it well, clearly a lot of time went into the game and it payed off. For the GTA series this is the best one. You haven't really given any valid reasons why it's not a good game except comparing it to watch dogs. Which is irrelevant for two reasons:

1.Watch Dogs isn't even out yet
2.Watch Dogs was created with the intent for the next gen consoles

In the end every sandbox or open world game got the concept from GTA and Rockstar. Everything that is in the basis of Watch Dogs was innovated by rockstar. With all the capabilities of the PS4 of course the game should be good because of the hardware that it has to work with. You can't say that GTA V is a bad game though, especially if you like how watch dogs looks. You just don't like the hype, which is understandable but don't let others cloud your vision.
