You are probably right. But I don't think he can extend the "immunity" to someone else beside him. Chibaku Tensei pulls matter in indiscriminately in a certain radius.

well obviously that's not true because he's not getting pulled in, which means he has a certain level of control over the jutsu

we don't know how the mechanics work, but Nagato being isolated by the pull of CT is evidence enough of immunity

We can guess that his chakra is the one thing that differentiate in him from others in the battlefield. Maybe his jutsu is made so that it doesn't attract beings with Nagato-chakra (I include the paths here)
