OMG... stop saying this! The Shinigami was NOT unsealed by the Uchiha Tablet, the mask was clearly the key to it. Oro never made mention of the tablet when he outlined his plane to unseal his arms and the hokages.

So you area saying that Oro knew how to get his hands back as well the souls of the Kages to use as Edo's, yet he didn't get them? If he only needed the mask he could have done that at any time during the time-skip. However he lacked something, the Uchiha tablet, which Sasuke more or less gave to him. Oro is working a complicated plan here...

Great use of pictures to mislead. Easily explained though, if you're not looking for links that don't exist. First off that was Sasuke that said "what's important is down there", NOT Oro, and you're take the comment out of context. Sasuke was replying to what Suigetsu said, because it doesn't matter that the temple is gone, because it's true importance was to hide the entrance to the sealed room where the tablet is. The tablet is important in it's own right, but not for resurrection. They only used that room to have a private place to have the convo with the hokage.

The mask was not activated because of the tablet. Shinigami was activated when he put the mask on. The panels you conveniently left out made that quite apparent, as the tablet is not depicted at all.

You purposely left of the panels in which Oro details every part of the resurrection plan and the tablet doesn't even get an off mention.

Mostly that's due to Kishi's writing. However yes, that's what I'm saying. You remember he was sickly right? Apparently, by the time he finished the research to discover this secret, he didn't have the strength to invade Konoha territory to retrieve the mask, so he created that scroll. Right now pretty much all the ninja forces are in the war and security is extremely light. Or... it could be he just simply didn't have the strength to preform the ritual itself.

Again... if the Uchiha tablet was part of the plan WHY was it not mentioned in the explanation? He says "First you need the shinigami mask" then the next step is "If you cut his stomach the seal will break". Why would he leave out the all important, "you need to be in front of the Uchiha tablet" that would be in between those two steps?

To both you and Derp I say: The Uchiha tablet is no magical artifact, it has no hidden powers or properties, it is a simple stone, with encrypted information on it. The words are what are important, NOT the rock they are written on. There is nothing in the manga that indicates there is any more to the tablet than that.

Though it's a shinigami and that is Japanese for "death god" (though Death Note does have a female Shinigami), the Shiki Fūjin since gods are male and goddesses are female.

Shinigami can be many different entities, ranging from gods to ghosts. The God-part in it all is that they decide your time is up. Usually male or non-gender, but female can be as well.

Personally I believe the Shiki fujin is male and is just an Oni like many others. However, the fact that a Hannya mask was used to perform the shiki fujin might prove a different light on the subject and in favor of Derp.

Then if she's Kaguya.... I don't know...

fun fact: Hannya(sanskrit) is a name for the scroll of six perfections as well.. so who knows.

It was established and well known by now that the Shiki Fūjin required Rikūdo/Hagoromo's Tablet as the catalyst for the Shinigami Mask to unseal the Reaper:

and the Reaper is most probably Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, Rikūdo/Hagoromo's mother:

As to why Kaguya became the Shinigami of the Shiki Fūjin, Kishimoto has not yet explained or revealed why, either as an end effect of eating the Shinju's fruit or as a mother's sacrifice to aid her son in fighting the Jūbi.

The Hannya Mask (般若) takes it's name from the Sino-Japanese word for prajna or wisdom, the mask was named as such because the Perfection Sutras (Hannya Scroll) were effective against demons.

The Prajnaparamita or the Hannya Scroll speaks of the Six Perfections to become a Bodhisattva aka a Sage, a Sennin

The Six Perfections Are:

1. Dāna pāramitā: generosity
2. Śīla pāramitā : virtue
3. Kṣānti (kshanti) pāramitā : patience
4. Vīrya pāramitā : diligence
5. Dhyāna pāramitā : contemplation
6. Prajñā pāramitā : wisdom, insight

He who has followed the Six Perfections becomes a Bodhisattva, a Sennin.

The Bodhisattva then has mastery of the Six Realms/Paths also known as Rokudō 六道

1. Naraka Path
2. Preta Path
3. Animal Path
4. Asura Path
5. Human Path
6. Deva Path
