Gaara most likely wins. However, he instantly loses if he ever goes shukaku since he'd be a massive target for totsuka to rip him apart(with swings), then seal him.

Well I would argue that it's a matter of who makes the first mistake. Itachi's susanoo can activate faster than any of Gaara's attacks (by my logic, Kirin > any of Gaara's attacks, unless you can prove otherwise ... I'm open to it) so Itachi doesn't need to maintain susanoo. Instead he can just activate it whenever he gets attacked.

The fact that Gaara knows Itachi is a genjutsu expert makes it extremely hard for my boy, but nevertheless, I would argue that Itachi can use even his finger to cast genjutsu. And like most/all shinobi in the narutoverse, none of them are awake of any finger genjutsu ... my guess. And the genjutsu doesn't need to last long or do some damage. Its purpose is simply to distract Gaara for a milisecond so Itachi can find an opening.

A sand tsunami of that scale is not happening unless he is in the village already, the one from Gaara v.s Kimi is more plausible, even then people overestimate what gaara can do with this sand,

Itachi's sharingan should still be able to see Gaara's chakra entering the sand, so Pre-Cog still works here, and i'd say Itachi's reactions>Kimi's so he can dodge and weave his way through the sand imo,

If Gaara envelopes himself in such a sphere the third eye get's KO'd via Shurikan as Itachi can see where it is at all times, not to mention surrounding yourself with a sand that is going to be lit on fire (BLACK fire) is not very smart, as the flames would soon push or melt the sand inwards, causing Gaara to be hit as well

Gaara is susceptible to itachi's genjutsu. The only problem is that, even though gaara would be under genjutsu while itachi attacks him in the Real World, auto defence would still do it's part to block itachi's attacks :/

I clearly wasn't talking about Tsukuyomi, Sexion. :| And once Gaara produces the clones, they move on their own and think on their own until the enemy destroys them or until Gaara releases them.

Part 1 Gaara was able to create such a big Tsunami out of nowhere, I believe that Part 2 Shukaku Gaara would be able to create a bigger Tsunami, but it doesn't matter really. The Sand Tsunami Gaara used in part 1 is enough to keep Itachi in Susano'o.

Shuriken? Really, Sexion? Those shuriken can be blocked by any of Gaara's sand jutsu. And Amaterasu burns slowly, Gaara can shed the part of the sand that got hit by it.
