It is a known fact that edos have "unlimited chakra" but what does that actually mean? I'll give you guys 5 options to vote for.

1. Edos have a set amount of chakra which never gets reduced.
2. Edos have the same amount of chakra they would have if alive but it is continuously regenerating.
3. Edos have the same amount of chakra they would have if alive but it regenerates at discrete intervals.
4. Edos only regenerate after having their chakra reserves reduced to an arbitrary value.
5. Edos completely regenerate back to 100% after having their chakra reserves drop to 0.

It seems to be 1 because it is like they are drawing there power from an external source. Number 2 seems flawed because if that was the cause a Hyggua would be deadly to them, and they wouldn't be so immortal so to speak, I was think about Naruto FRS when he uses it the chakra network get destroyed beyond repair, so that would mean that that jutsu should kill an edo but it wouldn't only sealing can, and being of unlimited chakra are know to be sealed...if that made sense.

Number 2 seems like the only choice with the exception of clones. Clones split your chakra regardless of the edo tensei benefits. Your chakra will only be returned after the kage bushin is undone.

think of it like a game where you have a mana pool.

The edos, cannot increase the amount of max chakra(mana) than when they were dead.

When they use ninjutsu, that uses chakra(mana), they use so much of their total pool.

Their chakra, will automatically regenerate.

They will always regenerate chakra. However they will never get more chakra than when they were alive.

They can use enough chakra, to run out of chakra, but it would only be temporarily, and they would regenerate their pool
