Gaara would have been better as a main antagonist than the current villains?

Let's say that when Naruto beat Gaara in part 1, Gaara didn't learn the 'mystical magics of friendship' and instead hated Naruto more. Let's say that Gaara never became Kazekage, but instead defected/perhaps massacred Suna before leaving with his siblings with the murderous personality he possessed back then. Do you think he would have been a better antagonist than the current villains?

I certainly think so.

Not really, current Gaara is one of the most interesting characters.

No, I love Gaara for his redemption and found the light through the darkness. I would've hated if Gaara never learned anything.

I'm not trying to say current Gaara is a bad character. Just saying, hypothetically, do you think he would have been better as an antagonistic force than the current villains?

Yeah I would have liked that
Gaara was a cool bad guy and so were his siblings
Gaara seems a bit boring now- Personality wise

Really? U got a legendary ninja who went toe to toe with Hashi and lived for like 200 years and planned everything that happened in Shippuden and gaara is better? And yeah Obito too is better than him

Why? He seems cool

Not to me.
His attitude and how he behaves is completely odd to me.

It's like Neji, I get that they have changed from their 'antagonists' like attitudes from Part 1. But it just seems like they aren't themselves, it feels like they've become one of Naruto's disciples.

Yeah Evil Jin Gaara with a murderous personality in shippuden would have been awesome. Too bad he was destined to get tnj'd. Not enough bad bad villians in Naruto sadly.

Evil Gaara was much, much more interesting than current Gaara. Perhaps, current Gaara would be interesting had they shown all of the development he had gone through to become Kazekage but no. all that development was left unexplored. Without the development he's a just boring archetypal hero.

He's a great antagonist but he needs a bit more to him for main villain status. He shares a similar background to Naruto so the parallel's there but he needs a true goal... not simply killing to keep his existance. Naruto's major focus right now is creating a world of peace, something nobody before him could do. Obito offers an easy way out by promising a virtual world in which peace in always at hand. So I think Obito has at least that going for him *_*

wouldnt have made a lick of sense lol gaara wouldnt have the support of the akatsuki or the zetsu army or kabuto and his edos so how could he pose a real world threat? at most he could pose a threat to konoha if kankuro got as good as sasori and had a 1000 puppet army and temari became able to make crazy hurricanes that destroyed mountains or something and then they could attack konoha like nagato did but thats about it

Gaara's role as a villain was not a main one. He was a direct threat, yes. But his villainous nitch was simply to be the powerful henchmen. He doesn't have what it takes to be a main antagonist; Despite how attractive his actions and routine behavior as a villain were.

His purpose would get old and can hardly be expanded on.

Gaara as the Kazekage is cool.

But it irritates me how all he talks and thinks about is Naruto. Even before the whole army he spoke of Naruto! Like his biggest fanboy, ever

I'm expecting Gaara to say "Naruto solos" any day now :|

He does not have enough motives to be a major villain, but i liked him better as part 1 self; now he is just a Naruto fanboy who constantly wanks in redundant levels. "Oh this war is to save Naruto", "ı wanna be liek Naruto", "Oh lawd Naruto"... Just stahp already; i dislike the constant wank towards Naruto, but it is more annoying when it comes from Gaara.
