Last Dawn [00:00] Chapter 5-The Escape

The rebels flew within the formation of L.E.A.F for hours although it felt like days. Feelings of hopelessness, anger, and fear filled the ship. Everyone was deep in their own thoughts as they attempted to guess their own future.
Jack: What are those smaller ships for?
Xian: It is convenient that you should ask that because we are almost ready to begin. If you all would turn to your left you will see there are five small personalships.
Eko: Hold on Xian. There are six of us but only five ships
Xian:Eko you’re small enough to ride with another person. You will be riding with Rheon. (Did he really think I would give him a separate ship?)
Rheon: (face palms) Why is Eko riding with me? I want to take a vote.
Xian: There will be no votes; my decision is final.
Eko: Hee, hee. Rheon we’re partners for life.
Rheon: Oh lord that’s just sick. I’d rather work with the L.E.A.F.
Xian: I see you guys are getting along already. Now I will tell you the plan. Pretty soon we will be passing through the space gate to enter satellite two and thatis our chance to break away from the formation and reach the moon. I can’t guarantee that you all will survive, but if we do everything perfectly we should be able to make it in one piece.
Gnome: Uhhhh, so why don’t we just use this bigger ship to get to the moon instead ofusing those puny ones.
Sasuri: Strength in numbers…
Xian: Sasuri is correct. We are an easy target as one single ship and if they manage to get us the entire cause would blow up literally. This may sound cruel butwith more ships there are more targets and a greater chance that at least some of us, if not all of us, survive.
Gnome: Uhhh, last question, what direction do we go after we pass the space gate?
Rheon: (face palms)
Xian: Gnome…just turn right, and head to the white circle looking thing we call a moon. We will be landing on the dark side so their sensors can’t detect us when we land.
Rheon: The dark side huh sounds fun.
Xian: Now that we have gotten most of the plan out of the way everyone take positions we are now about to pass out of Space gate 1 and head toward space gate 2.
As the closed in on the space gate the air seemed to become cold. Everyone was thinking if this would be the last time they saw each other. Everyone was trying to play this situation out in their minds over and over again until the space gate began to open. It was a large circular iron door. There were burn marks from the missiles L.E.A.F would shoot to prevent people from escaping.The people actually had no chance of penetrating the Iron Gate; however,desperation and a lack of will to live led to many attempts to penetrate this door to freedom. Once the gate was fully opened a glass tunnel connected thisgate to the space gate 2. The purpose of the tunnel was so the citizens did not simply get sucked out in the dark vacuum known as space every time L.E.A.F entered the satellites.
Jack: When do we make our move?
Xian: You see that large ship there? That is the ship Kaiser is on. We will wait until he passes through Space Gate 2 then we will make our move. We can’t afford to let him be our tails because we will almost be guaranteed death if he spots us. Once he passes through the gate he would have to turn around and getus but with other ships still traveling straight they would collide so we won’thave to worry about him this way. When I give the word I want you to blow up the tunnel and we will escape through that hole. Jack you’re up.
Jack: Right…
Jack created three clones to operate the ship while he himself sat in the his own ship. The time was near for them to initiate their plan. Kaiser’s ship neared the second gate as it began to open.
Jack: Xian!
Xian: I know just wait….now fire at 2 o’clock
Jack pressed a series of buttons and many missiles began to barrage the glass tunnel. There was a strong explosion knocking some of the ships in the area off course. The rebel’s ship turned on its thrusters and zoomed through the haze and out of the tunnel in the midst of all the chaos.
Kaiser: What was that? Did someone crash?!
Ellephlora: No, look at our sonar readings. The ship is not attempting to get back information. The heat signature also shows some missiles were fired. This doesn’tlook like an accident.
Kaiser: Turn this ship around!
Officer: Sorry, no can do Kaiser. There are too many oncoming ships to turn around. We would kill them and possibly ourselves if we try a stunt like that.
Kaiser: Dammit, and we can’t afford to get too far off schedule. Division 3, pursue and destroy the rogue ship.
Division 3 Captain: How will we know which ship it is we all look pretty much the same.
Kaiser: Mark it before you all initiate your attack.
Division 3 Captain: Yes sir! All officers I am going to mark the target. Division 3 unit follow close behind me then swarm the enemy when markers are set.
Division 3 which was comprised of about 60 plus units began swarming out of the tunnel in pursuit of the satellite rebels. There was a slight thud on their ship.
Jack: What was that?!
Xian: Do not be alarmed they marked the ship. They are preparing to fire on us. Open the front hatch we will launch on my mark.
Jack: Okay I guess, but they’re getting closer.
Xian: I know I was hoping for that…*waits* now activate reverse thrusters at fullpower.
Jack: But then we will be heading right for them!
Xian: Do it! Wait 2 seconds after he activates the thrusters then launch.
As the L.E.A.F approach the rebel ship fast they are surprised to see the rebelship heading back toward them as they close in on each other in high speed.
D3 officer: What is this a suicide attempt? Blow it up! Blow it up now or we’regoing down with it.
Officer: Open fire!
L.E.A.F began opening fire on the rebels severely damaging the oncoming ship; however,due to the speed at which it was traveling it crashed into the ships behind itand caused a massive explosion. Other ships in the vicinity had collateral damage from the initial explosion causing brief confusion amongst the L.E.A.F soldiers.
D3 Officer: …We lost a few ships in that explosion, but I think we got them.
Officer: Sir, look at the radar it would seem there are five small heat signatures moving away from us at high speeds.
D3 Officer: What? I don’t see anything. All officers move through the smoke.
The L.E.A.F moved through the smoke made by the explosion to discover the rebelshad merely used their other ship as a decoy. They began to move in on the groupof small aircrafts prepared to destroy them.
Rheon: I think they just figured out our trick Xian.
Jack: So what now? They are going to catch up to us pretty soon.
Xian: Alright break formation. Our ultimate goal is to continue forward progress tothe dark side of the moon; however, we will have to hold these ships off aswell. I wish everyone the best of luck, and I hope to see you at the destination.
Eko: Wait so my life is in Rheon’s hands?

Eko: This life is cruel.
Rheon, who was always quick to act, broke formation before the others. Everyone else followed suit soon after. Veering to the right Rheon had drawn the intention ofthree L.E.A.F ships traveling at high speeds. He made several attempts to shake them but it was difficult to outmaneuver all three ships.
Eko: Rheon they are getting into range man!
Rheon: I know, but what you want me to do about it.
Eko: I want you to keep me alive! You’re the one driving!
Rheon: Oh yeah how could I forget? Just sit back and hold on *takes a large gulp ofwhat looks to be an alcoholic beverage*

Rheon: It stimulates me. Now shut up while I work. *Grabs Radio* Gnome I know Xian said we were on our own but if we work together we can get out of this thing. Keep your eyes peeled I’m going to lay out the enemy for you.
Gnome: Roger that I’ll be lookin for ya.
Rheon made a sharp left turn as the three ships followed him. They seemed to belocked in on destroying the ship that lay before them while they were blind toall else. Rheon saw Gnome and began increasing speed separating his distance ina split second as they passed in front of Gnome’s ship.
Rheon: I brought your presents Gnome Merry Christmas.
Gnome: And a Happy New Year, ha ha now show me those fireworks. *presses button*
Officer: We have incoming-*explosion*
Rheon: Thanks for the hand
Gnome: Don’t get all sentimental we’re not done yet. If you didn’t notice they keep coming.
Rheon: I know that’s why I had to lose the three stooges.

Eko: Wait where are we going?
Rheon: Kaiser gave clearance to open the gate. You can manually shut the gate down from inside.
Eko: I get it, but it still sounds like we’re getting the short end of this deal. I’m stressing out over here. *takes out chocolate bar*

Jack: Hey what is Rheon doing? He’s going back to the tunnel.
Gnome: I heard him over my radio. He is going to shut down the gate momentarily.
Jack: Why would he do that? It’s basically suicide, and how will he even get close with all the oncoming ship.
Sasuri: Rheon I’m going to cover you.
Jack: What now Sasuri lost it too?
Xian: Hmm maybe they aren’t so crazy. How did I not see that earlier?
Rheon:*chugs the entire alcoholic beverage* Alright Eko this is going to get ugly.
Sasuri: Fly behind me Rheon while I clear a path. Watch my backside. Then when we get close sling shot pass me through the gate then shut it down.
Rheon: Roger! *flips ship around and prepares to drive in reverse in order attack those coming behind Sasuri* let’s kick some ass.
Sasuri: Heh, heh did you think of that line all by yourself?
Sasuri and Rheon took off in the direction of the tunnel as Sasuri began firing at the tunnel that collapsed on many oncoming L.E.A.F aircrafts. They then began fighting the remaining ships that survived the tunnel collapse and the other ships passing through the gate. Rheon ,driving in reverse using his front thrusters, was able to match all of Sasuri’s movements. A couple of ships began to come up from behind; however, Rheon simply shot them down being able to drive in reverse.
Sasuri: Rheon the ships are starting to swarm around us. They will attack from all points in approximately eight seconds. Will you have this dance with me?
Rheon: Thought you would never ask I’ll follow your lead.
Eko: Dances, lead, what the heck are you talking about?
Sasuri and Rheon both turned left creating a spinning motion that continued while theyfired rapidly destroying a multitude of ships around them. They spun while they continued forward momentum.
Sasuri: Rheon go after my mark
Rheon: Right.
Still spinning Sasuri had to time his shot just right because their ships only carried two missiles and he would need them both. Sasuri fired both missiles that passed through the gate. When the missiles exploded, a space was for Rheon who shot out of his rotation and passed through the gate.
Sasuri: Rheon close that gate! Any oncoming ships will most likely be heading for you. I’ll try to keep some of these ships from giving you even more trouble than you already have.
Rheon: Thanks Sasuri.
Eko: Rheon how are we going to get out if we’re closing it from the inside?
Rheon: I’m working on it.
Eko: Sigh *takes foil off of what looks to be a three course meal* tell me when we’re dead.
As soon as Rheon passed the gate he swung around looking for the control panel too close the gate. He began heading straight forward, but at a moderate speed while swerving and flipping to avoid enemy fire.
Rheon: Eko hand me the binoculars.
Eko: Here ya go chief.
Rheon: *Gasp* I just figured out how to get out.
Eko: Really?
Rheon: Sasuri let one of the ships pass through!
Sasuri:…Roger
Rheon: Ok I see that ship on my radar heading my way. That is perfect. *fires two shots at the control panel causing the gate to close*
Just as the gate began closing one of the enemy ships passed through and didn’t notice.
Eko: Rheon look the gate is closing! There's no way we’re going to make it. Why are we traveling away from the gate?
Rheon: Okay put on that space suit.
Eko: Wait what? *Begins putting on space suit*
Rheon: Open the hatch and climb on the top of the ship. *begins pushing him up there* Sasuri in about 9 seconds I need your ship at the front of the gate.*Sets up dominoes and timer.*
Sasuri: Yea I can make that.
Rheon: Good, good.
Eko: Rheon what the hell are we doing?
Rheon: Listen man, I’m drunk and I have no idea what I’m doing. Thank god I am, or this might not work.
Eko: Uh oh.
Rheon placed the ship on auto pilot as the enemy ship followed behind. Rheon held Eko as they stood on top of the ship hanging on.
Rheon: Right about…now!
The timer inside the ship went off and began buzzing. As it moved due to its vibrations, it hit a set of dominoes that landed on what looked to be a toy catapult that flipped a stone up landing on paddle that had a string connected to a wheel sharply turning the ship around. Due to the ship turning around violently a kid sides bowling ball rolled onto the gas pedal causing the ship to go faster.
Eko: Gaaaaaah, Rheon we’re going to crash into that other ship!
Rheon: That’s the plan.
Eko:What the
Due to the sudden turn and acceleration the enemy ship had little time to react. It attempted to fire at the ship but the ships ended up colliding. With the collision a sudden halt caused Rheon and Eko to be catapulted forward at the high speeds the ships were traveling. Since they were much smaller than the ship they were able to fit through the small opening as the gate closed. The two rebels flew through the gate and landed on Sasuri’s ship screaming the entire way.
Sasuri: Heh, only you could pull of something that stupid. We were thinking you were laying your life down, but you had no intention of dying did you?
Rheon: No freakin way my man.
Eko:…Gaaaaaaaaaaahh!
Rheon: Hey it’s over.
Eko: Not that. *Points upward* that!
Looking up the duo suddenly spotted a large aircraft that looked to be one of the mother ships hovering over head; it came from above the satellite and was massive in size.
Rheon:How long has that been there!
Sasuri: Did they call for back up? That particular ship model was not within Kaiser’s formation.
Eko: Rheon you got anymore bright ideas?
Rheon: I didn’t plan this far ahead. I sort of live in the moment.
Eko: (face palm)
Jack: Guys get out of there!

The massive ship began opening hatches from all sides releasing smaller ships that looked to be drones. They began swarming the area easily in overwhelming numbers. Everyone, including the L.E.A.F forces still there, seemed to pausefor a moment at the authority the ship presented. Sasuri gripped tightly on the ships steering as a drop of sweat ran down his face. Rheon and Eko, sitting on top of the ship, were looking around analyzing this situation constantly.
Rheon: Well sitting here won’t help. Are you ready?

As it moved due to its vibrations, it hit a set of dominoes that landed on what looked to be a toy catapult that flipped a stone up landing on paddle that had a string connected to a wheel sharply turning the ship around. Due to the ship turning around violently a kid sides bowling ball rolled onto the gas pedal causing the ship to go faster.
Eko: Gaaaaaah, Rheon we’re going to crash into that other ship!
Rheon: That’s the plan.
Eko:What the
Due to the sudden turn and acceleration the enemy ship had little time to react. It attempted to fire at the ship but the ships ended up colliding. With the collision a sudden halt caused Rheon and Eko to be catapulted forward at the high speeds the ships were traveling. Since they were much smaller than the ship they were able to fit through the small opening as the gate closed. The two rebels flew through the gate and landed on Sasuri’s ship screaming the entire way.
Sasuri: Heh, only you could pull of something that stupid. We were thinking you were laying your life down, but you had no intention of dying did you?
Rheon: No freakin way my man.
Eko:…Gaaaaaaaaaaahh!
Rheon: Hey it’s over.
Eko: Not that. *Points upward* that!
Looking up the duo suddenly spotted a large aircraft that looked to be one of the mother ships hovering over head; it came from above the satellite and was massive in size.
Rheon:How long has that been there!
Sasuri: Did they call for back up? That particular ship model was not within Kaiser’s formation.
Eko: Rheon you got anymore bright ideas?
Rheon: I didn’t plan this far ahead. I sort of live in the moment.
Eko: (face palm)
Jack: Guys get out of there!

The massive ship began opening hatches from all sides releasing smaller ships that looked to be drones. They began swarming the area easily in overwhelming numbers. Everyone, including the L.E.A.F forces still there, seemed to pausefor a moment at the authority the ship presented. Sasuri gripped tightly on the ships steering as a drop of sweat ran down his face. Rheon and Eko, sitting on top of the ship, were looking around analyzing this situation constantly.
Rheon: Well sitting here won’t help. Are you ready?
Sasuri:…Yea let’s go. To be Continued

You got a bit of a problem using punctuation, but that aside, it was pretty well-written. Plenty of action, comedy, and tension all in one. You probably have the best usage of humor out of anyone else I know on the base, man
