Though not for long. It was clear that as Naruto was crying it was because he began to lose hope. It's completely understandable, Obito is OP af and his power is overwhelming the alliance. Naruto is witnessing a bunch of shinobi dying just by the touch of a branch, and on top of that he just got his chakra sucked out. So some doubt is gonna be there, it's human nature (just like the Heat in Game 6 of the 2013 NBA Finals before Ray Allen hit that EPIC ASS F***KN SHOT OMFG!!! I still fanboy over that). Anyways Sasuke noticed this and decided to take action while taunting Naruto at the same time. But I think that this was Sasuke's own way of saying to Naruto that not all hope is lost and not to give up. IDK why SOME (not all), but yeah SOME Naruto fanboys get so offeneded when people say Naruto gave up. When they see people say that they're so quick to call whoever stated it a butthurt Sasuke fanboy. But I think it was great for the character development of both Naruto and Sasuke

People try to belittle their friendship/rivalry but I think Kishi did a fantastic job with it. I like the fact that their friendship wasn't all in your face and annoying like Shikamaru and Choji. It's much more deeper (that's what she said) and complicated than that. And even though I HATED last chapter, I enjoyed that Naruto Sasuke bit. Time for Kakashi to return and Sakura to get some more action for the TRUE Team 7 reunion.

Agreed it doesn't make naruto weak because, in the end he fought against it.

That is what makes his triumph of defeat and regret the amazing story it is.

If there was no real thread of defeat or loss of hope then his will to keep going on wouldn't have that much impact.

It is the same concept of someone being brave.

They are brave because, they are scared and rise to the challenge anyway.

You cannot be brave if your not inflicted with the situation at hand.

And then he brought motivation back to the whole alliance. Dat Naruto.

Yeah he did something Hashirama failed to do, those fodder ninja who disrespected my man Hashi need to die. But yeah the feeling of the heart thing was kinda meh to me but I as I reread it a few times it grew on me.

Kinda felt like Hashi got raped when that dude said ''but you're already dead''. It was kinda true in someway XD

Agreed. I couldn't of said it any better. It made the reader realize how bad the situation actually is, I'm glad are seeing that I'm not character bashing. It doesn't make Naruto bad, it makes him human.

Lol yeah my friend said the same thing, but it's a mindset like that that makes you wonder why these fodder even made it past genin level.

He didn't give up, end of story.

Yes, but he was in the process of giving up. Then Sasuke taunted him, and Naruto snapped out of it. Being in the process of giving up and resisting that is the most heroic thing a character can do. period. To deny that Naruto was in the process of giving up is a slap in the face of his character. Naruto is more heroic for thinking about giving up and refusing to give, then just not thinking about it. Then Naruto shows his heroic colors by not only snapping out of it but also snapping all the ninjas out it.
If he never doubted himself and then inspired others, where's the heroism? There's no heroism. Heroism is looking into the abyss and saying no. If you have never looked into the abyss and truly doubted your resolve, then you are not a hero. you have never been adequately tested. Naruto was tested and he passed the test

I guess you haven't been reading the juubi revival arc then. He's given up twice already.

No. He was just at a standstill.
If he would've given up, he would've joined Obito a long time ago.
