It was never cleared WHEN he changed to a wood clone. And given the fact that wood clone looks totally different what a normal edo tensei's body looks like when destroyed it WAS the real Madara. Even Tobirama was mobile after getting half of himself destroyed by Juubito.
He changed to a clone when after the punch to avoid getting sealed.

And he would have NEVER let Tsunade hit him on purpose. Or Lee. He is way too proud for that.

Tsunade did not move faster than A, she was just the only that was able to counter Madara's Katon. If A had went in there, he would have been melted.

@Fizz your clone+Shiki fujin argument doesn't work unless you are saying Hiruzen would have to use a suicide jutsu in order to win this fight. He would get the drawbacks of the technique regardless if it's a clone who execute it or not
