Yes indeed shikamaru is dead, i can say that from how sakura says , we are late , and this is war many people have died so some central charaters are going to die.

I think it would be complete bull crap. Asuma baby still need someone to raise him... And it would look pretty bad for both the son and father to die in war, leaving the wife/mother all alone.. If he dies, I can see her temper going into a deep crying depression.

Hhm... it adds alot of depth to the story but hey, they couldve just killed off someone like sakura instead :/
