I don't think people are surprised. This is a classic american behavior. However, it's about time they stopped with this stupidity. Of course, every culture, every society has their most notable problems, defects. That's why I hate when people from my country start to say that US is not a good country because of the americans, as the country I live in is thousand times worse, with more defects than the americans, we just don't show it to foreigners.
I hate it because the people of my country do this just to hide their own defects.

I'm explaining this because it's obvious that no society is perfect, but americans has to shown the world one of their great defects, that is the arrogance. They not only show the world, this arrogance is directed towards other nationalities. That's what make people criticize americans all the time, their mistake idea of superiorit, the idea that has to stop, because it's not only limited in their society, they afect people of other countries with this arrogance.
