Kishimoto has crafted the perfect storm for a Sasuke power-up

After many months of waiting, I'm highly confident that chapter 647 will be the chapter that sees Sasuke's power-ups start to roll out.

Why do I think this? Well, to put it simply, Kishimoto has crafted the perfect storm for such an event to take place.

Sasuke has finally seen the current power gap between Naruto and himself first hand. He's aware that at the moment his current abilities pale in comparison. Kishimoto has shown this through Sasuke's internal thoughts, facial expressions and body language. The facial expression that Sasuke makes in particular on chapter 646 is quite interesting...

The current situation is extremely dire and things are looking bad to say the least. Currently Naruto is out of commission and it won't be for a decent while until he's back on the front lines. Minato has already commented that he is running low on chakra and the other Hokage's have proven to be in effective against the Shinju (even having to run away from it). The current situation is also one that the Gokage and Orochimaru won't be able to make an impact on.

Next week we'll be getting a "special 21 page chapter". This is arguably one of the best indicators of a Sasuke power-up. What's going to happen next chapter that Kishimoto considers it necessary to have a special chapter that consists of 21 pages instead of the normal 15-17 that we usually get? What kind of big event will take place in chapter 647? I'm willing to bet that its Sasuke related, from both a power and character development perspective.

Note: It should be noted that Naruto hasn't had a 21 page chapter in years.​

Chapter 647 is a volume cliffhanger chapter. Chapter 647 and the previous 9 before it (chapters 638-647) will make up volume 67 of the manga. Kishimoto likes to have big events happen at the cliffhanger chapter of a volume to generate reader excitement for the next volume. For reference, the last chapter of volume 66 is chapter 637 where Obito finally becomes the jinchuriki of the Juubi. Another example of this would be Sasuke's answer to the Hokage's at the end of volume 65 where Sasuke decides to protect the village. Both of these example go to show that Kishimoto has a record of letting big events take place at the last chapter of a volume. I wouldn't be surprised if volume 68 was Sasuke focused while Naruto is allowed to rest.​

After many months I think the stars are finally aligned and that Sasuke's power-ups have a high likely-hood of coming to fruition next chapter.

Minato is low on chakra, Tobirama has already mentioned that he can't keep up with the wood of the Shinju, Hashirama is pre-occupied with Madara and will likely be taken out by Madara's trump card. Unless you think Hiruzen will pull of something big...

Besides, Tobirama and Minato have both had proper showcases, its also been pretty obvious that the Hokage's would bow out at some point during this fight.​

The Hokage's will still definitely play a role in the next chapters, but I think we're getting close to the point where they'll be removed from the battle. Though, I actually thought Tobirama's Suiton was pretty impressive in chapter 646.​

I think that it will be something new, Naruto isnt done with his power up's, i believe minato is going to die and give him the other half of the 9tails. making him op Af. That would totally make Sasuke fodder in comparison, so what ever kishi plans for sasuke it has to be something wayyyyy better than PS IMO

I personally believe that it will be Perfect Susanoo in combination with a few other things. Itachi's spiritual weapons seem quite likely IMO, but even if he doesn't get those, 'only' having large scale Enton techniques in combination with Perfect Susanoo could be an amazing killer edge.

well madara already had PS armor on the kyuubi...sasuke is going to need something STRONGER than that to have an impact on this war, tbh naruto is top 5 now with bsm, but Obito/madara/hiashi are on a god level that naruto and sasuke are fighting to get on.

I am a sasuke hater, but if he gets a cool power up i will be fine with it because that just means naruto will get power up'd even more so the final battle will be so cool

Well it's not like Kishimoto will make 21 pages for Sasuke as you made it sound. It is to celebrate Jump Super Anime jump. In any case I too believe that Sasuke will get a power-up very soon but not as soon as the next chapter. I mean it would be rather rushed. It has been forshadowed that he will get more powerful because of his current inferiority to naruto but not so fast that in chapter, it will be introduced that's he about to get it out of the blue and manage to get it, immediately. Besides, it would be anticlimatic, first the kages have to arrive and put up some decent fight to stall for time. I believe that at that moment Orochimaru will come at Sasuke's aid and they're going to have a rather interesting conversation.

Actually from the last chapter I would say its more likely that the next chapter will be Madara confronting Obito cause he was on his way to do exactly that, plus it looks like Naruto is angry about something so I think that next chapter will be a lot of talking rather then fighting.

His power-up(s) aren't going to be completely unfolded next chapter, but I do believe that we'll see them begin to roll out. It could even happen on the last pages of chapter 647.
