Looks
Mystogan possesses dark eyes, blue hair and tattoo on the right side of his face. He wears a dark blue cloak and his arms and legs are mostly covered in bandages. At a point in time he wore a dark blue bandana with a silver forehead protector, and a green mask that obscured the bottom half of his face to hide his identity from his fellow villagers. Later on, however, the design of his mask appears to change frequently. He usually carries his Magic Staves on his back which are held by a dark green strap going across his main body.
Personality
Mystogan is a reclusive member of Amegakure. Laxus Dreyar has stated that he knew what Mystogan looks like and what may be his true name, but when Laxus says "Another-", he is cut off by Mystogan before he could finish. He doesn't want people to see his face and so he hides his identity, especially from Erza; he knows that his face would remind her of some she knew and he wants to spare her that pain. He seems to be very knowledgeable about the world of Narutolandia as he instructed the shinobi of Amegakure to do specific tasks for it.
Many of the shinobi of Ame question who he really is, citing him as something of an enigma; however, Wendy states that he is a very kind person. Makarov states that Mystogan doesn't talk much. Despite his reclusive nature, Mystogan is extremely loyal to Ame and its shinobi, and is willing to go to great lengths to protect it. He single-handedly took down all of Orochimaru's henchmen that were trying to overtake Ame and directly confronted Laxus when the latter attempted to forcibly take control of the village. Mystogan gets along very well with Inoichi Yamanaka due to him saving him from death when he was young. He wishes to meet him again and have a spar with him.

Prologue
I never thought my whole life would be documented like this. I always thought I was no one special. To the world I am just another existence. Had it not been for those that I swore to protect, I would not have even rose up in defiance and become who I am today. I am not the type to say much but have a wealth of knowledge to share. But if you really want to hear about me then I guess I should start at the beginning no?
Growing Up
I have he faintest memories of what my childhood was like. I remember my mother pretty well though. She was always kind and gentle. Her hair was a long flowing black color that made her face shine. I remember she would always fuss about my appearance. She would always clean my face before leaving the house or dust my shoulders when they looked like I had been playing in the attic. I don't think I have met anyone quite like her. I have nothing but fond memories of her. Then there was my father....God was he a real tight ass. I mean I had respect for the guy but he never really had any good advice for me. I know when I went to school and asked my friends about their dads and compared to them my dad seemed like Madara Uchiha. He always pushed my buttons but maybe that is one of the things I liked about the guy. If it wasn't for his insults I wouldn't have gotten the motivation to get better. I tried to please the guy but no matter how hard I trained he never let up. Like this one time I was learning how to make a bunshin and when I had finally succeeded in making one the guy just made a Kage Bunshin and kicked my clones butt until he poofed away. I had to really push myself to even get him to smirk at me. I am glad the old man is dead otherwise he'd be up to his old self and trying to belittle my achievements. Sadly though my mother really loved him. After he died my mother died as well. Since then I have been alone. It really sucked. I mean how do you get over something like that. But I pushed myself for her and look at me now. Hee hee.
Falling leaves, Raining skies
I remember the day I decided to leave Konoha. It had been a couple years since Mom died. I had been devastated and I frankly don't know how I got through it. But if it wasn't for Inoichi, my best friend, I would have never gotten off my ass and into the world. It was actually thanks to him that I am alive.
It had been a long and tiring day out in the forest. I remember we both had gone out for a mission as Genin. Oh God I remember he was such a wuss because he refused to move at night. I was always watching his back and at times I really felt like leaving him behind. But the longer we traveled the more I got to know him. He was actually pretty smart and taught me a lot about the forest. I hated him though on the occasions he read my mind. I told him my thoughts are mine and if he does it again I would beat the living crap out of him. He never tried again hahaha. Anyways, we were traveling on when suddenly I tripped on a rock. Yes a freaking rock but that was my fault because I kept looking up. I hurt my ankle really bad. I was too concentrated on the pain that I didn't see when a masked ninja kicked me in the face. I kinda went black for a bit and when i came to Inoichi was in front of me kneeling away from me panting as if he had ran a marathon. I looked over and a man was on the floor bleeding...lifeless. I didn't think the little bugger had it in him but he saved my life. He told me he was sorry that he couldn't fix my leg. He helped carry me back to the village. I looked at him on the way. His face was badly bruised and it looked like his nose was broken. I had never seen someone really care about me like that. I asked him why he even tried. I yelled at him that he might have died. He told me something that really changed my life.
"I know I suck and can't do shit but you're the only friend I have and if you had died...well...it would just suck"
After that day, we both trained hard. We fought each other and always ended in a tie. You could say that we knew each other's moves that there was not point even battling. But after a couple of years I decided that I wanted to grow and get stronger. I remember Inoichi begged me to stay but I said FU I need to get stronger. He bid me farewell and I walked out like a boss. Of course I would have would it not had been for that darn rock again. I tripped and was about to fall flat on my face when Inoichi grabbed the back of my coat and laughed, "You should definitely keep your eyes on where you're walking or its to the infirmary with you." I laughed, feeling so embarrassed and continued walking hoping he would be alright without me. He should be otherwise I would have beat his face in hahaha.

I made my way to Amegakure and along the way learned as much as I can. I had to believe in myself and be better. The good thing about moving to a new place is people don't know who you are. I had the rare opportunity to reinvent myself and actually get serious. I left mt past behind and ahead was only the future. The future I would forge with these two hands. I remembered all the kindness I was shown and the valuable lessons I had learned. I made it to the gates, my ticket to destiny. I hit my chest and vowed that I wouldn't screw this opportunity and be more aggressive.
I stayed in Ame for the next couple of years and really made a name for myself. I was able to receive training from a lot of legendary senseis. I forged new friendships and worked harder than I had ever done in my entire life. Through my own blood, sweat, and tears I made way for my destiny and laid down the foundation to a long and prosperous life. It was hard at first trying to freaking prove myself because I had always been looked down on. That was my motivation to drive myself to more intense training and I became relentless. At times I could be seen sweating blood because I was too rough on myself. But thanks to everyone believing in me..I think I made it. Now I look forward to the life ahead and hopefully seeing my old friend again. I want to rub his face in the dirt with my boot. Hahaha.

Water Prowess
After spending his time in Amegakure, Mystogan was able to master the water element. Having trained extensively with other water masters, Mystogan became quite ferocious with it that he was able to perform all water jutsu that require handseals, with just one handseal. Though he was pretty skilled with water, he could however not perform them without a water source like his hero, Tobirama Senju, who was said to be able to make water in areas not normally possible.
The Rain's Umbrella
Hidden Rain's signature weapon. Umbrella's are shown to be used frquently by Rain ninja in anime/manga, this is an optional weapon to add to their biographies. Their abilities:
♦ Gliding: Once high in the air and using a wind technique to create a gust an open umbrella could allow extended periods in air by gliding, with the advantage of wind direction user could move long distances slowly but easily and dropping in altitude. With any given technique that pushes, a user could glide above 25m high in the air and move with the speed of 8m/turn.
♦ Senbon Shower: releases a hailing "shower" of senbon. It cannot be dodged by moving away since the needles cover a wide area in all directions, controlled by chakra. Although the needles are said to be able to pierce a five millimetre thick steel sheet, they can still be blocked by a powerful enough shield. Medical ninja can dip their senbon with poison to increase their lethality.

All his life, Mystogan has used wooden staves as his main weapon in battle. In his possession are five basic staves. His first staff is a long staff like the others and it has two curvy circles and on top of them is a skull with horns. His second staff is a staff with its head being round with a large red and yellow eye. The eye, as well as the entire space within the circle of wood the eye is within, being comprised of steel, allows Mystogan to defend against non-chakra related projectiles. His third and primary staff is a staff with its head being fan-shaped. Being fan-shaped, fan-required jutsu may be used through it. His fourth staff is a staff with its head being a three-spiked fork. The center prong of this fork is actually a hidden sword, with the handle being the top of the prong with the rest being a cleverly disguised sheath. His fifth and final staff is a staff which looks like a number 3 with the upper part of the staff having three golden rings. In addition, as Mystogan has used staves all his life, he has grown adept to their usage and is capable of weaving handseals while holding onto a staff. Sometimes he even forgets that he's holding one. In addition to holding his staves as if they almost didn't exist, Mystogan also can quickly and effectively reach behind him, place a staff within a very precise holder on his back, and take out another staff in one simply, quick, fluent motion which takes no more than a second.
