Jiraiya destroys Kisame though, so this comes down to Jiraiya vs Itachi, it's widely considered that Jiraiya has some sort of edge but it depends on his speed keeping up with itachi. If he gets to set up, Itachi is ****ed, seriously I could think of like 5 setups he could do that would absolutely annihilate itachi as long as he's not using Yata Mirror which is a last resort.

Where'd you been, man? The only reason why Itachi said that was because he wanted to avoid fighting Jiraiya in front of Kisame. As we ALL know by now, Itachi was spying on konoha's behalf, and he didn't want to kill Jman, or any leaf shinobi for that matter. Same reason why he took on the three jonins and had Kisame stand back. He saved their asses coz he knows Kisame'll rip them to shreds. It was all for show.

Team 1 hands down. Itachi already stated that the best he and kisame could do is draw against jiraiya, even with reinforcements and kisame already stated that jiraiya is on a different level. Add in tsunade with jiraiya and it's a definite win for team 1.

And everyone figured out Itachi was clearly talking about kyuubi at that point, not jiraiya, because of that statement. Jiraiya was getting shat on by only animal path, then got his shit wrecked by preta, animal and human path evidently having to retreat to for 10 minutes just to use frog song. Clearly Kisame and Itachi would've destroyed him.

Without intel Itachi oneshots with Tsukuyomi. With intel, Itachi wins with mid diff as he still has two one shot techniques for close-mid range (Tsukuyomi) and long range (Amaterasu) which are almost unavoidable in the long run and his Susanoo with the spiritual weapons.

knowing Itachi is an Uchiha, the Sannin are not too dumb to look directly in his eyes,
and Tsukuyomi needs enormous amount of chakra and causes Itachi's eye to bleed making its vision blurred. though Itachi undoubtedly possesses a variety of powerful techniques, his stamina and chakra reserves are not enough to use those techniques simultaneously at a very long period of time
