If Madara wasn't stalling Hashirama what would Hashirama have done?

Would mokuton mess with the god's tree in some way? Since the fruit is so high up that the only ones to get it would be obito, madara, or Hashirama. Is that it? I dunno what other jutsu would Hashi possess to make him such a threat to the god tree for Madara to personally get involved. Is Mokuton the answer? or is it just that since Hashirama is the strongest Madara just wanted him out of the way? your thoughts?

i don't think any of above is the case...! madara is holding hashi for some entertainment before end and i don't think hashi can get anywhere near that tree since madara said jubi is trying to take it's chakra back and hashi will get dried of chakra just like naruto... if he doesn't run for his life...!
