There are a few things I'm still not clear about.
Didn't Pein say Hagoromo(SoSP) create the moon? So why does the the Gyuki(Tree) need it to cast the IT? Since it's body is no longer there and it didn't create it, there's no way it should be able to do that.
Finally, if the IT is in done what will be it's real effect?
Does Obito get the ability to directly influence everyones thought and actions? Or does it trap all of them in a single genjutsu?

simple,it in order for the IT to activate, to control the world, it needs the heavens to reflect its eye, and the moon is the ideal choice for it to be a mirror, I am pretty sure if the Moon was not there, maddy and obito would use the stars or something to reflect the eye.

TWO. yes, now in road to ninja, the IT is a DEMO not the full version, its just a DEMO, this is confirmed when tobi and zetsu is on the bridge scene and zetsu asks tobi how is it, that tobi cant control Naruto and sakura and make them bend to his his will, obito replies stating that it is a demo version and though he made the world as a mirror of reality he cant control everyone, so that concludes that in the real IT that is going to happened in the manga, obito/madara will be ABLE to control everyone and everything and not just make the world alone
