The only thing this god tree and the tree of Adam and eve have in common is the fact that they are trees that produce fruit. The woman that ate the fruit from the god tree was granted a power of chakra whereas eve and Adam were punished. And the tree of life had no power. Only thing that kept Adam from touching it was gods word. The tree could have been anything and it would have been the same. The moral of that story was to never go against god whereas this god tree moral is completely opposite. To say this was a biblical reference is like saying tomatoes and apples are the same because they are similar in color

Adam/eve ate the forbidden fruit, thus they were punished by "god". Rikudou's mother ate the juubi's forbidden fruit just as well.

After which they were banished, had children. But guess what? Those children were brothers, cain & abel. & to add on top of that, the older brother grew jealous of the younger brother, who was getting praise from god & thus he committed the first murder...(remind you of anything? Lol)

So basically yes, the story has more of a biblical reference than you think.

There were two important trees in paradise. Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge. Adam and Eve ate the fruit from the tree of knowledge, thus they and their descendants (human race) gained knowledge that equals god's. That's a power, too, imo. Also the god tree (god) in the manga wanted to punish the woman, but did not succeed.
