So Ive known this riddle for quite a while, can you guess correctly?

Ok here goes,

So the night guard has a dream that his king would be assasinated . . . . By an assasin. Ok so this worried fellow hurries to tell his king about his premonition. So he gets to the King and tells him the whole story but when the King hears this he takes out a sword and kills the messenger.

So why did the king kill the guard?

I think I got it I swear I didn't look it up but the king killed him because the night guard was sleeping while he suppose to be guarding him am I right
