Go to
Look at the popular threads. 1 post. 3 posts.
WAT?
Popular ones used to be the ones that had a lot of posts, not made by special members in my time.
Is this a bug?

It also goes by the views of the thread, not just the posts. That thread you are speaking of has a large amount of views. =D

It's retarded. The Popular threads are not popular as they claim, but the mods and admins don't want the "hassle" of moderating trolls trying to get on the Hottest Thread list they used to have.

But theyre getting viewed by guests... if i want i can use windows cmd to overflood the server and make my threads or my friends threads viewed in this case which is stupid. Also, look at narutobase.net a little down to the right corner. 400 members online. 2k guests online. <~~~ they want registrations.

My thoughts and response exactly. Hottest threads section back then was much better

Why close a section because it's too hard to moderate? Isn't that their job? Just get more mods then, they're all volunteers.

weve got alot of mods active, probably 10 each second, so recruiting wouldnt be needed, and some of them are trying to be ninjas, coming here with alt accounts and posting, and also viewing, while if they notice something like insults or stuff from their alt accounts, they just login on moderator account and infract u. thats a smart way to do it cos people wait for mods to go off and then insult lol

You would think so huh? It kind of defeats the purpose of a hottest thread section if you ask me.
The mods make some decisions that I don't really understand. We keep some users who are like parasites who try to piss people off yet others get banned from just having fun. Or the extensive closing of registration. It's been over 2 months by now, you'd think they would be open by now. Especially since we always seem to have over thousands of guest online.
I know nothing about forums though so I don't lose sleep over this. Just kinda bugs me and id like to know their reasoning behind these actions.

Right? I don't get it. And i know this thread will be closed with either;

A: No response at all. Or
B: A questionable response without a definitive answer, or with a debatable answer that is no longer debatable because the Mods have the last word in the thread while their word is law.

Hottest threads led to an increase of troll threads.
People wanted to see their name on the homepage or w/e so they baited people into pointless arguments
Admins removed the hottest topic, people raged for a week but in the end the amount of troll threads went down by a little

There is no bug, what you are explaining has always been the case ever since those three spaces at the top were added. The only thing that we have changed since introducing them, was removing 'Hottest Threads' and replace it by 'Forum News'. 'Hottest Threads' and 'Popular Threads This Week' were practically the exact same thing, they were calculated in the same way. Threads appear on them based on the amount of views and posts they receive in a certain time period. The difference between the two was that 'Hottest Threads' had a way shorter time period, making it very easily to get threads up there. This was abused severely by a lot of members.

Lots of trolls abused it, some of them even admitted it, by making provocative threads. Other people intentionally made crappy threads of which they knew they would gain much posts quickly just so that they could say they succeeded in a thread of theirs getting up there. And because those threads got up there, they received more posts, making the situation even more worse.

So because it was obvious NB couldn't play nice with this toy, 'Hottest Threads' was switched for something far more useful. 'Popular Threads This Week' was kept as it's far more difficult to get a trolling thread up there.

It's retarded. The Popular threads are not popular as they claim, but the mods and admins don't want the "hassle" of moderating trolls trying to get on the Hottest Thread list they used to have.

It's not retarded as all those threads got there genuinely the same way all those trolling threads got up there. The difference is that these threads don't break rules. Hassle of moderating trolls? If you people wouldn't make it so easy for trolls all the time, there wouldn't have been a reason to remove 'Hottest Threads'. Theoretically speaking if people would have just ignored trolling threads, then they would have rarely or never appeared on the 'Hottest Threads' and then we wouldn't have had a major reason to replace it. But no instead people just wanted to get their crappy threads up there themselves.

When you give a toy to a child and you see he abuses it, you take it away. You people were given something, you decided to abuse it, we took it away. And what do you do then? You whine and blame it on the mods. You had your chance, you blew it, deal with it.

OK i will post a screnshot of wat i see now

And then you run the risk of getting severely punished or do you think you are the first one who came up with that o so clever scheme?

There have always been thousands of guests on NB, even when the registrations were open. There hasn't been any significant increase or decrease in guests since we closed the registrations, so you have absolutely no way to know that those people want to register, you're just blurting things out now. Yes no doubt there are people amongst them who want to register, but that doesn't take away NB has 24/7 thousands of guests who browse the forums, regardless of whether the registrations are open or closed.

Well lets see on the one hand rulebreaking threads filled to the brim with spam, flame, retarded comments that lower your IQ by 10 points each and on the other hand useful threads like contests, important announcements, constructive threads etc. Well I think it's fairly obvious which one of the two is the best for the forum.

Why close a section because it's too hard to moderate? Isn't that their job? Just get more mods then, they're all volunteers.

We never closed a section, we just removed a worthless box on the main page and replaced it by a useful one. All these crappy threads you people are apparently so found of, it's not like that they suddenly disappeared, with the exception of the threads that people made just to get up there. We just made it so that they aren't parading around on the front page.

weve got alot of mods active, probably 10 each second, so recruiting wouldnt be needed, and some of them are trying to be ninjas, coming here with alt accounts and posting, and also viewing, while if they notice something like insults or stuff from their alt accounts, they just login on moderator account and infract u. thats a smart way to do it cos people wait for mods to go off and then insult lol

I really wonder who comes up with this kind of ridiculous stories of the staff...

A) We are not obliged to reply, if someone else already gave the correct answer, there is no reason for us to just repeat it. A thread in this section gets closed when there is no reason to keep it open. Considering this is a topic that has been discussed before it wasn't even necessary to repeat everything I said again, I could have just linked it.
B) Well duh. And people who make that kind of comments as yours see all responses other than their own and the ones who completely agree with them as 'questionable' and the answer on the question of this thread has been answered numerous times before.

Give it a few minutes.

One of the moderators will give you an insulting, non-understandable "answer" while locking the thread and giving you shit for finding something wrong with the site/ having an opinion

The answers are perfectly understandable. If you don't, it just means (which is very often the case) you simply didn't understand the situation at all. There isn't anything wrong with the thing he thought was a bug as I explained. You want give him shit for that? What kind of person are you?

Did you actually replied to his question? No. Were you useful in any kind of way? No. Did you even make a post that was actually relevant to the topic of this thread at all? No. You just made a post to make sneers at the mod who actually answered the question and tried to help. When you say something, it becomes an innocent 'opinion' and if they punish you for that 'opinion', then they are power-abusing leeches. But when a mods say something? Oh no then it are 'insulting, non-understandable "answers"', it's impossible that there comes something good out of the mouth of a mod :|

Fairly obvious I'm going to close this thread. The question got answered and no way in hell the 'Hottest Threads' will come back, so there is no reason to keep this open.
