Why does everyone take every line in the manga seriously

The manga is literature so it's going to have characters with points of views, personalities, and opinions every line isn't meant to be a line to gauge a character's strength they're simply there to show how a character views about another character. For example the Itachi line about Jiraiya wasn't meant to make debates in vs. threads it was more about itachi's respect for jiraiya but everyone likes to use lines like these as manga fact when they're actually just POV opinions

People take every single line seriously? That's sucks for them, because some lines don't even exist in the Official VIZ Scans. Not to mention that not every character witnessed the same thing in certain circumstances. EX: Chojuro stating that Sasuke killed Zabuza.

Showing another character respect isn't the same as admitting inferiority and I'm not a huge fan of either this was just the most well known example

you're right, itachi just used it as an excuse so he and kisame could leave and hadn't to catch naruto, since the main reason why itachi came to konoha was to tell danzou this basically: I'm alive!
so he wouldn't do something stupid and kill sasuke

but itachi is probably stronger than jiraiya.. well not 100%sure, I think he wins with very very very very high diff

Nahh it's actually just some bullshit that Itachi came up with as an excuse not to capture Naruto (Which he obviously didn't want to do since he was a good guy!!).

Gawd Yes This^ I use wiki and the data book when doing comparisons but they get ignored or the person you try to show it to says something stupid like "Show me the manga panels" It get's to the point where I just give up all together. :vincent:

It depens on who said it, for example, Zetsu was said to be weak by many characters, so his judgement shouldn't be considered pure truth...
