I guess the remaining was still inside the Mazo (Juubi's body) that's why he was still powerful without any bijuus inside. But only need someone to use his powers in exchange of the users life energy.

But it's clearly stated that sage used yin-yang release and fully divided it b/w TB's. . and hurled the the body in moon . .so it still doesn't explain how can someone empty something which is infinite. .

Then the only explanation would be that Naruto didn't managed to see the limits of Juubi's chakra.
He was amazed at Kyuubi when Kyuubi formed a massive BD even after his chakra reserves were tamed by Naruto.
Then that explains why he couldn't know the limits of the chakra of all the Nine Bijuus' chakra in one being while sensing it with sage mode. Naruto couldn't reach the other end of the thread.

ALIVE MADARA has 9 chakra bars. EDO MADARA has 9 chakra bars , BUT they rapidly recharge over and over instantly.

Complete Juubi Infinite chakra is 20 bars and it keeps building up. Sage grabs it at 20 chakra bars and splits it
sort of like a seal that stops everything's growth. (RDS soul chakra/Totsuka stops movement?)

Basically the Juubi's chakra is like Nature energy keeps being absorbed from an infinite source or keeps being recycled and the Sage caught it right before it was recycled again. :]

ok now i'll go with hypothesis . .maybe even Juubi has limits which sage was aware of . .maybe sage had much more stronger chakra than juubi which explains how he defeated final form of juubi atleast . .now i dont agree that sage used rinnegan powers to defeat it . .because juubi has eyes that resembles rinnegan and sharingan combined. .and it's stated that juubi is the progenitor of everything that exists . .so in conclusion sage defeated juubi with some unknown jutsu of his own and caged it and obtained rinnegan and divided juubi using Yin-yang release which is a rinnegan technique. .

Juubi is a physical vessel for Nature energy and there has to be a limit to the vessel. As said, energy in the whole universe is constant. As the vessel gets harmed, it is healed again by the nature energy. Sage must have found that weakness and blocked Juubi from absorbing more nature energy.
