...Orochimaru's real intentions
It's going to be a long theory so just sit back, relax and then read this theory. In this theory I am going to tell you Oro's grand plan which turned out to be utter failure and then how Oro came up with plan-B and what he wants now...Why Orochimaru joined Root??
We all know that Orochimaru was part of root and during his duty as a root member, he met Kabuto.
But the natural question that comes to my mind is why he joined root??For money, fame??
No, he was already legendary sennin, could have become easily ANBU member,then why??
The answer is,
Yes,senju DNA...Now tell me one thing, when exactly Oro obtained Senju DNA, according to you?? Remember in Part-1, he used it for the first time against Hiruzen when he resurrected first hokage using edo tensei, since edo tensei needs DNA of person you want to resurrect..
There is a posibility that he gained Senju DNA when he was part of root, because if that's not the case, how Danzo obtained senju DNA??
But Why it was necessary for him to join root in order to get Senju DNA??
Answer is the preciousness of Senju DNA....
There is a possibility that elders of Konoha knew that Hashirama's body and it's secrets may cause trouble(if fallen in the wrong hands), they must have kept the body to a discreet place so that only few people can access it, just like the scrolls that they forbade,
At that point of time, Hiruzen was hokage and there was absolutely no way, Hiruzen could have allowed Oro to access Hashirama's body, because he knew about the evil persona Orochimaru had in him...
So there was only one way left, to use 'root' and that's what Oro did. He joined root to gain senju DNA,but what he gave to Danzo in return?? He gave Danzo part of senju DNA, just what Obito thought..
But soon Hiruzen discovered that Oro is up to something and carried out a surprise attack to capture him, but he failed and Oro became missing-nin..

Then he joined, Akatsuki....Now, why Oro joined Akatsuki??
Answer is Uchiha body..
Now, why does he need Uchiha body?? Because his target was to gain SO6P's power..
We all know that, one who recruited Akatsuki members was Obito, just like he invited Nagato to join akatsuki..
He invited Oro to join Akatsuki, but introduced himself as 'Madara Uchiha'. Oro joined Akatsuki for the sole purpose of taking over 'Madara Uchiha's(who was Tobi at that moment) body', but soon came to know that Tobi isn't Madara Uchiha, as he meanwhile deciphered Uchiha tablet with the help of Kabuto,
But soon he came across really important thing in Akatsuki hideout, Madara Uchiha's body.... who died in Uchiha hideout, as we all know...
He kept that body with him, but since it was in weak condition, he never used it, Kabuto later modified it and resurrected Madara Uchiha.
But, then soon Uchiha Massacre happened and Oro shifted his eyes on Uchiha Itachi, he tried to take over Itachi's body but failed..
Since, now he had achieved everything, he left Akatsuki...
Answer is Uchiha body..

Why Orochimaru Attacked Konoha?
Before few days sasuke said that Oro didn't attack Konoha on whim,
then why he attacked Konoha??
There are Two possibilities->
1. It has something to do with his parents and probably he wanted to have his revenge as stated by honourable member, Sir Derp Obito..(which is valid and maybe correct)...
OR maybe there was another reason..
2. He attacked Konoha because he wanted to kill Hiruzen...
Why?? Grudge, no... reason was Sasuke Uchiha...
Now, what Killing Hiruzen has something to do with Sasuke Uchiha???
The reason is, Hiruzen couldn't have allowed Sasuke to betray the village, because he was one of those people, who knew the truth of Itachi..Another point to note is that, Itachi entrusted Sasuke to Hiruzen before leaving Konoha..
and Itachi was the main reason due to which, Sasuke needed power(Sasuke wanted revenge, remember??)...
Only village elders, Danzo and Hiruzen knew the secret of Itachi Uchiha, but other weren't harmful for Oro but Hiruzen was...So he killed Hiruzen, so there won't be any trouble in 'mission Sasuke Uchiha'...
This thing is also verified by Orochimaru's 'incomplete invention' of Konoha, why incomplete?? Because, he retreated after killing Hiruzen, and note he says 'plan is over'...

Sasuke Uchiha saga
We all know what happened after that...But we need to take one thing into consideration, that Oro said that his target was sharigan but it was wrong, his target was Rinnegan and SO6P's power, as it is clear from Kabuto's words->
So in short, Orochimaru wanted Sasuke's body to awake rinnegan and get that SO6P's power...
But, unfortunately he underestimated Sasuke, the 'brat' that he wanted to take out, went out of control, and ended up absorbing him instead, and hence his entire plan failed...

Unfortunately(or fortunately), Oro has plan-B now, now what is this plan-B?? Don't you feel little suspicious that after going through this many troubles, how he can turn good??
I felt the same thing and referred some chapters,and came to know his new plan, plan-B, which again revolves around Sasuke-kun, even if he said this,
Before few chapters, Sasuke-kun headed to the battlefield, jumped into the battlefield and said this,
But he has his own motives behind it, he wants to change the system,
But how??Connect this things and you will come to know that, he wants to get rid of all bijuus,
Observe second image, the scratch is exactly on Naruto's face...He wants to divide Naruto in half, wants to get rid of Kurama..
Orochimaru's role
In chapter 635, Oro said something really important,
He always wanted to become wind, now he just wants to watch, in short he just wants to stay on the sidelines and watch Sasuke(his wind), who becomes Hokage, but then again what is the use of staying in sidelines for him??
Answer is 'use Sasuke'...Control hokage from background, and achieve your goals...
Don't forget Oro wanted to become hokage..
But now he won't be able to, but there is a possibility that Sasuke will be able to..So what's wrong in turning good??:yeah:

Oro wanted to become SO6P, but his plan failed, but he did a lot of things to get that power....
1. He joined root, to get Senju DNA.
2. He joined akatsuki, for Uchiha body.
3. He gave Sasuke curse of hatred.
But unfortunately he failed.
He got resurrected and came up with
plan-B.
1. Now basically, he just wants to go with flow.
2. He will help shinobi alliance in the war.
3. Once the war is over, he will support Sasuke to become Hokage, and then use Hokage title for his own agenda or will take over Sasuke's body.(probably this will lead to Naruto vs Sasuke.

I said in my theory, that Orochimaru attacked Konoha, solely to kill Hiruzen ...
At that moment, I had no manga scan to prove it, directly,
but then I did research again, and came up with a scan where Orochimaru himself said that, he wanted to kill Hiruzen..
