Kirin's combat effectiveness.

Sparked by a versus post of Naruto v Sasuke, I started wondering.

Question: didnt Kirin need to have a lot of set up in advance to achieve the devastation that it caused? Would it be as effective without all the nauseating calculation? its an awesome move, but would it be do-able on the fly combat?

Now that he's sporting enton spam, Kirin is far easier and less taxing to setup. This coupled with the fact that it's almost 90% possible that Sasuke was going to Kirin Team7 at Oro's hideout without prep (but probably at the cost of an enormous amount of chakra) makes me believe it's entirely feasible to use it in a vs. thread.

At first I thought it was another jutsu but after looking at this scan and the one from the Itachi fight, I believe Sasuke was going to use Kirin since the pose is the same.

It takes time to set up.


It took a giant ring of Amaterasu, and multiple blasts of fire dragon bullets to gather the storm.... With Sasuke's Enton it will be easier to establish, but regardless it still takes time to prep.

It is not the most effective jutsu, but given Enton, it is something like this.

Something you start loading at the start of the fight, but completely ignore until it is actually ready to be used. So yeah... it takes prep time.
