How were the Leaf struggling in the previous wars?

Looking back on everybody they've ever had:
-Hashirama
-Tobirama
-Hiruzen
-Minato
-Jiraiya
-Tsunade
-Orochimaru
-Whole Hyuga clan
-Whole Uchiha clan
-Ino-Shika-Cho generation trios
-Akimichi clan
-Aburame clan
-Sarutobi clan etc.

It seems really implausible that Konoha were losing the wars. The Sage's bloodline even runs right through Konoha through the Senju clan. The only people that I can think of who would have caused damage were Third Raikage, Muu, Third Kazekage, Ohnoki, Ay, Trollkage and I can't think of any others.

Konoha has so many strong and infamous bloodlines that it just seems weird as to how'd they lose. Thoughts?

Good point. I guess i just based it off of the fact that the Hokages just seem miles superior to any other Kage.

Select few cant be in every war. Thats why Naruto is the greatest he was in every battle thats what making them win the outcome. Also the other villages were strong thats why Kisi showed us the reanimation jutsu bringing back some strong people from other villages. Chiyo Pakku Mist ninjas the Kages ect

this. And just because there is a whole clan, doesnt mean that the clan is able to use its kkg well. Many uchiha never got sharingan, and many hyuuga never got gentle fist(the complete form. rotation etc)

Nobody truly knows what happened to the senju(they probably split into the other clans of konoha, but this is just a theory)

And meanwhile the other nations got all the other clans that were fighting.

The mist had hakus clan, and kimimarus clan(before they both got wiped out.)

IF kishi had more time, and wanted to do so he could show many other ninjas, that were truly exceptional.

Let me give one example of a ninja, that was just fodderized.

Sasuke. He was beat by bee before bee ever went into bijuu mode. Yet sasuke is an uchiha, albeit a strong one with sharingan.

yes ultimately sasuke did beat bee, but he took several mortal injuries before he did.

So bee without any special powers, just with his sword style, was able to deal a mortal wound to a skilled uchiha.

Also other villages might have quantity over konohas quality.

Not ever senju is like hashi, not every uchiha like madara, not every hyuga like neji(or hiashi), etc.



But to answer the thread question directly, the leaf was struggling because they had taken milatary loses, and had a much lower population than usual. As such they had to resort to sending kid teams to important missions(looking at you team minato)

After the third raikage's hype and muu, I am confident that the first "kages" of those generations were beasts in their own right. So that might explain the first few wars, but during Hiruzen's reign... You got me. No real idea how they could have any issues with things. Their military prowess seems untouchable.
