Also, the name of the attack was : Thor elephant gun
This question strike to my mind when i was reading comment on MS .

If luffy can use thunder based attack then,it is kinda weird because luffy is a rubberman and rubber is like exact opposite of thunder and that is why he was called enel's elemental enemy (or something like that) .

I think he used lightning from the sky like his move in strong world, that's my best guess.

I think he called it Thor because he came down from the skies like a god. Also, the Garp vs Chinjoa clash generated electricity. So I think it is just a special effect.

Yeah.
If it is pure electricity then it will raise allot of questions because of his fight with Enel.
Somebody watching it like Burgess maybe, might explain what happened in better detail.
Or maybe even Luffy himself.

That's scientifically impossible considering he is made of rubber though >_>

Well you're right but it had the word "thor", I'm sure it is lightning since Oda was probably referring to the greman god, Norse.

Yeah I think that is it.
If luffy can use electricity through friction and fire as well, through vulcanization, then he can really use his powers to another extent. That Oda man.

Lightning from the sky ?

Yeah, it was just a thought because the last attack named Thor was in strong world and it was lightning from the sjy. Then again it may just be because of the fact it came form the sky like that attack and it was gear third. The sparks probably came from the clash of haki.

It may be true, didn't Luffy already use some electric attack against Hody underwater? Some snake-attack or what it's called, not sure though so correct me if I'm wrong.

My mistake, it wasn't electric, he just dropped it from the sky at high speed (like lightning), that was probably the same premise, the electricity was was the clash of armament haki

The name of he attack indicates he did use lightning. Red hawk and Thor seem to have logical connections. Firstly: Ace used fire. Thor makes sense ( not really but I can't really explain ) as Luffy learnt haki over the time skip. His first experience of Kenbonshoku haki was against Eneru whom used lightning.
Hawk= Gear 2nd
Thor= Gear 3rd
