Garp has always been ridiculously strong. He's always one of my favorite characters because of his inner conflict, etc., plus being arguably the most powerful marine doesn't hurt either.

But I think Roger was still more powerful than WB and Garp. I mean, he was the PK, and WB and Garp have only matched him, implying they had to strengthen themselves to fight Roger.

I sincerely believe Garp would have killed Akainu if it were not for Sengoku. You know you're a badass when the Fleet Admiral has to stop you.

Call me crazy but I still think Old Garp could match Shanks.

I believe prime Roger & WB were on par and if they weren't the power gap between them is very small. Talking about PK status is kinda irrelevant since Garp and WB obviously had no interest in that.

Sadly I have to agree with you...the standards of NB has really fallen when it comes to intellectual readers who can't read a manga right and follow their delusional beliefs.

Personally regarding Garp I still find it hard to believe that some people say a 'sick' Whitebeard is stronger than Garp. When Roger himself has stated Garp and himself have nearly killed each other countless times meaning they fought endlessly.

This makes no sense. 'Cause Roger himself stated Garp equalled him on numerou occasions. Whereas it hasn't been shown that he has ever said such a thing about WB (not that I doubt WB's strength in comparison to Roger).

Old Garp seemed confident in his ability to kill Akainu, the man who arguably had the most impact on the war. Also Sengoku knew he had to be restrained.

This just scares me. He must have been a true monster in his prime.

I don't think that WB was the strongest man alive at the time Marineford occurred, he was old, but that alone might not have been that much of a handicap if he wasn't also quite sick (when you're on machines you are no longer fit)

I do think that Garp was actually stronger at that time because he was in a much better shape, I also think Dragon and Shanks at least were also stronger at that point and Akainu was very close (btw, Akainu is seriously underrated)

Garp was in a better shape than WB long before and yet was not the WSM. At most, the timeline upon WB's introduction up until the war was at most few weeks. Besides, Sengoku who's been by Garp's side for god knows how long declares WB as the WSM after Squardo stabbing him.

And like Kuzan said, we might as well ignore Mihawks title and say 'No one knew if Rayleigh was alive or not, so he must be the WSS.'
