How does it affect you, what does it exactly do and how long does it last?

it means the mods can punish you more easily for the smallest things

it is meant to embarrass you as well

and you have to answer this question every time you post : who is the main character of naruto? naruto

to me it feels like they cant decide whether to perm ban you, and they hope your behavior improves

It is when a member breaks rules and ignores multiple warnings. Not sure if its the same for everyone but when I had it: My picture had to be 150 x 100, couldn't have a signature, couldn't change status and before every single post I made, I had to answer the question "Who is the main character of 'Naruto'" which was extremely annoying.

It lasts for until a mod decides you've learned your lesson which kinda blows since they don't pay attention to that kind of stuff. I had to PM to mods to get my detention removed and even then I had to wait a couple of days.

The question is already there.
Say I click on a thread while I'm in detention. There is no such option as quick reply, only multi quote or reply. When I pressed reply, it brought me to the "Go advanced" reply screen and above where I could post a comment was the question you have to answer. You can type text to try and reply without answering but if you submit your reply, it says, "you forgot to answer the question" and brings me back to the same screen without the text you just wrote to submit.
You also can't edit posts while in detention.
