Okay, My mom is super pissed off at me and thinks Im going to be a dumbass. Here is why:
OKay so I told my mom i was nervous about not being able to be smart enough to graduate high school, just a typical me. I never feel smart enough at school but Im defintely not an idiot. So my mom assured me that the test were easy, you know the test you take before they let you graduate. So she is telling me I should study everything right now, like all kinds of math and english, science so on and so on, thats not even on my level, if I was so worried. I told her I would probably get stressed. I get stressed by thinkng about school so anyways, I don't want to study stuff that I wont be able to comprehend right now. How the hell am I suppose to understand caculus if I still have my hardships in algebra?
I could probably move to an higher advance in english, history and maybe science, but in math.
I ain't trying advance to something, I won't understand just yet.
Even me studying for a test, that I won't be taking for a awhile is bothersome.
Im going to get packed with homework and studies when I go back to school, why the hell would I add on another sh-tload?

And I hate homework and studies! :dafq: Pisses me off thinking about it.! :rage:

Anyways, Am I in the wrong here?

1) Your mom wants what is best for you even if her approach sucks.

2) Every teen is going to fight with their parents.

3) You're wrong for giving up on school and she's wrong in the way she approaches your lack of interest in school.

Not really, if you are currently struggling or having your hands full with the level you are currently at, then you should not try to study higher level stuff.

Especially in Math. All that will happen is that you will get lost, and will never learn the Algebra because Calculus is its own thing. You use the aspects of Algebra, but apply it in different ways...it would never work.

You just need to explain that you are having a hard enough time with the classes you have. Though maybe you could go advanced in at least one of the subjects that you aren't having a problem with. If you are stressed with what you are currently doing, you should try to find ways of calming down (I recommend deep breaths, and sometimes just clearing your mind of any thoughts).

Hope I helped.

Who said I was giving up?
I just said I'm not going to study for some classes that aren't on my level.
I rather study for stuff I can work on. Why am I going to try to study, sh-t I don't know at all because its above my grade level and study stuff on my grade level?
When as I progress, I can do that.

Also, you guys are missing what I said.

Ex:Lets say your 10th high school student, would you want to classes that are for college students and study all your classes from your grade?

Do not drop out..... Typical teenager..... Do not drop out..... This is normal for your age..... Do not drop out. Second note, tell your mom about the issue to have her understand the situation. Talking to us help none. You fix the issue before it creates a problem. Communication is key. I lost that a long time ago with my parents. Do not make this mistake with your parents or guardian.

Edited: Also, I just notice you set yourself up. Why would you tell your mom that? Not a bad thing, or you are right or wrong. Be careful with your words. Now, you just cause this. You have to get out of the situation on you own. ^^

Couldn't have said it better myself. And btw, it's hard to make it in the world without a decent education unless you are very good looking or extremely talented. If you are neither without an education, chances are you won't live the most successful life and could just end up a bum.

You should at least finish up high school, a few of my friends are dropouts and they don't have much of anything going for them. They're ages 17-19 and they blow all their money on weed while living with their parents and they'll probably be like that for the next 5-10 years. Stay in school kids :hint:

Edit: Cursed Prince has a good point too. Just pass school for now, don't worry about calculus and that other crap. You can't learn much calculus without knowing trigonometry and algebra anyway

Im not stressed with the stuff I have though, although I dont get stressed easily. I just know for sure, if I study for things that are way to advanced for me, that i am going to be stressed.

That sounds like you're in the process of giving up.

You're going to have to find something to motivate you to work.

Well, the exit exams at my high school weren't difficult at all. I passed them all in tenth grade, while my classmates struggled with theirs all the way up to senior year. But enough of my greatness, lets talk about you- whatever you need help on (which is math), ask about it and learn about it. Search the interwebz for the shit you're unfamiliar with. Usually, it has what you're looking for and it could probably help you out.

Oh alright! Well, defiantly do not study above level Math. You honestly won't get anywhere... basically imagine trying to study Algebra without knowing how to add, subtract, multiply, or divide....those four would be like what algebra is in Calculus, or as you go further... you build on it.

I'd say try to take some of the advanced courses if nothing is giving you too much trouble. And as far as studying... look over things you've already done. Re-read some notes from the last Math year... or just look over tests. If something looks 100% foreign, try and look up a quick guide on it through Google. But chances are, if you somewhat recall it, you will be fine as for the most part, the first two chapters of you next year in math usually covers what you learned in the last year... so long as you somewhat remember things... should help you out.

Did she actually make you get( buy/borrow from library) books for university level and study it right now? If not you are over reacting. She just wanted you to put more of an effort. To read books from above your level you must finish the ones you are supposed to be reading now and do it well.

BTW it does help if you complete your current course timely and properly and then check out the stuff from the next level. You may not understand it all at this time let alone complete it but you will know what you will be studying next and how much preparation you will need. Half the battle is won if we are prepared for it and have the right mind set when we start. You don't need to cross the next step at once but there putting your hand on the next one on your ladder will only give you better support. When the time comes you won't be overwhelmed that easily.

If you're in tenth grade you'll have to take calculus eventually anyway. Spend your usual study time on your current dilemmas, when you get some free time here and there it will only help you if you use that time and take a look at some of the more advanced stuff.
Take it in small increments and it won't come off as overwhelming as you are probably making it out to be in your head. In the present it may seem like a hassle but in the future it will be rewarded. If textbooks aren't a strong source of learning for you use the internet I'm positive you can find a site that will make it easier for you to understand, when I had math problems I couldn't figure using the textbooks info I went online and found sites that broke it down to simpler and more understandable terms and expressions. Definitely focus on Math and Science it leads to the highest paying careers typically, a fact I wish some if any of my teachers had bothered to tell me in school.
