good job pointing that out, you are right that shikamaru knows somethings up for sure. i will say though, i only agree that shikamaru knows shes probably got something up her sleeve and they shouldnt completely trust sasuke. naruto doesnt count in shikamaru's book completely, but because he does know sakura and the extent of the feelings shes had before, he can say for certain that they shouldnt completely trust sasuke because she doesnt. naruto has great intuition, but he is quick to trust..especially for someone like sasuke. thats why i think shikamaru and sai looked to sakura's reaction and hers told them all. dont trust sasuke yet just because hes back..somethings still not right. you know that something is going to lead to a team 7 standoff or fight probably more than a sasusaku moment.
i could be wrong, but that set up is dead as a doornail for now and so is...well i wont go there lol no desire for wars.

Of course, Sasuke has dark intentions. He wants the tailed beasts to burn and to delete the past. I never said he didn't. Don't put words into my mouth. Sasuke has dark intentions but he is loyal to the leaf. You can be a dark character and be loyal to the leaf, like Danzo was.

I notice you didn't form a counter argument to my claim that Shikamaru has never detected a fake smile before. Moreover I don't think he could read Sai's thoughts about Sakura and Sasuke.

Finally, Sai said, "Your words are sincere" or "your words might be sincere" depending upon the translation. This implies that Sakura believes Sasuke has returned to the Leaf. Sincere words = truthful words. If Sai thought she was lying, I think that would have been in the text. because sincere =/= lying. Her fake smile means she knows he is not completely saved yet, though he is fighting for the Leaf.
