are guna be all about hiruzen showing his prime and all you will finally know hiruzens true stregnth.
since watching the anime manga season 1 and 2 it appears to me that hiruzen is the strongest of all the kages due to proficiency in using natural energy.
evidence
hiruzen was a part of team tobirama meaning he trained under the second hokage but what iv noticed is that hiruzen has more in common with hashirama. when missions are assigned a new team leader is sometimes given so the leader may accomplish missions
similarities hashi/ hiruzen giant shuriken, dense chakra, strong chakra control, summonings, earth style, rds hokage scroll, three natural affinities
simlarities hiruzen/tobirama water style
so im guessing that while tobirama was doing missions the team was led by hashirama who was the person to teach hiruzen chakra control senjutsu, kenjutsu and ninjutsu
this doesnt mean anything without proof so i say lets look at the stats
tobirama has only water style hashi has water, earth and wood and hiruzen has water earth and fire.
being hokage hashirama would have been needed to stay in the village im guessing that capturing the tailed beast got pretty dangerous so hashi appointed tobirama kage so that he could capture the beast giving both team hashi and team tobirama all significant positions in the village.
where my proof once again we have team tobirama which is hiruzen surutobi, homura mitakado, kaharu utatine
then on the second hokage we find three new konoha nin danzo, kagami uchiha, and torifu akimichi most likely being taught by hahsirama since we know how well the uchiha due and we've seen danzo in action.
what makes you think hiruzen can use sejutsu
lets look at team hiruzen
jiraya frog summoning frog sage, tsunade uses senjutsu to collect natural energy and has a major summoning, oro snake summoning snake sage
the anime and manga both state hiruzen knows all jutsu within konoha
more evidence it is the fourth hokage who dictates that the eight gates technique used by guy, rds and the fury techinique used by the tshugumo clan are declared forbidden
with him knowing all jutsu within konoha its safe to say he can perform them.
all evidence points to hiruzen having senjutsu but not often using it but with oppenents like the third raikage and kazekage and now 3 world wars under his belt im almost certain hiruzen not only has sage mode but a giant arsenal of powerhouse jutsu
