Not because Itachi is powerful because there are character who can beat him. Bur its Because of the emotional background of itachi which Kishi portrays fantastically can make a lot of people feel for him. The character development Kishi gave to Itachi made him into a character which everyone could like and feel sorry for him. Hands down Itachi is emotionally one of the best characters in anime IMO. After watching itachi story again, manly tears were nearly shed and all I can do is:

i like itachi, no doubt since he is so cool and calm...but he is a psychopath, it takes a psychopath to do what he did...nobody with a right mind wud ever think doing something like that...!!

you can flower your words with he did it all for the village and crap, but still its far from normal...!!

OT: I disagree, he's an interesting character but there are far better ones. There are inconsistencies to do with his character and I don't think he was written perfectly. IMO, he isn't even the best character in Naruto.

This is true. Itachi is the best written character. His sacrifices for his village and brothers is unmatchable. The things he went through in all those circumstances..he indeed is the best written character.

Lol no just no ITachi is no where near the best anime character. Although this is a strictly opinionated thread I can think of a ton other characters who's flaws fit perfectly into each other and gather a better experience than Itachi's character has.

Danzo?!? Seriously?!?! WTF ? Danzo because he was starving for a shot at the kage position,destroyed itachi's life, destroyed nagato's life for the shot at kage position finally became hokage and did nothing except trying to make more authority and died without doing any good deed and ppl feel sorry for him?

P.S - Itachi's and Nagato's past backgrounds were best though . ( I felt too sorry for nagato but since itachi had been displayed as a villain and I loved sasuke for being cool and in part 2 they showed his true story i almost cried )

Indeed one of the reasons Naruto is my favourite is because of the depth of all these characters. They're not just nutheads who aim for world domination, they actually have real motivations and look more humane than most other characters out there. Seriously my favourites villains, if I may say so is Itachi, Nagato and Obito, especially Obito=D

I don't feel sorry for that story you're sharing. Just makes him sound like an *******. The anime episode of his story when he fought Sasuke was a lot more heart-touching haha, you make him sound like a ****.
