Because there are "three legendary places" in the story, some believe there is merely only Frog,Snake, and slug Sage modes, based off the 3 respective animals, and only those three.
This is understandable, but not entirely true.
While Sage mode might have become more centralized in those three places, those were not the only roads leading to the destination, if you catch my drift.
In part one, we were introduced to the Cursed seal, which was a method developed by Orochimaru to allow other shinobi to enter the state, as well as gain control over their minds.
The cursed seal in part two, was used to evoke imagery of the hawk, to suggest Sasuke's superiority over Orochimaru, who was a snake.
We later learn that this is known under a different name in Jugo's clan: Sage transformation, and is indeed an "unofficial" Sage mode.
What was interesting, was that Jugo later transferred his flesh into Sasuke in an effort to save his life. It was after this event that Sasuke's chakra took a change, becoming "colder" and "thicker" than when he was using the Cursed seal.
Similarly to how Sage mode is described, Sasuke's body can react to his "extra dark chakra".
It just so happens that Sasuke's Susano'o bears a [likely intentional] resemblance to Jugo's transformation.

This is where is starts to get delicious.
It is suggested that the human-like Gedo statue, might have actually pre-dated the Ten tails. Reason being, the "statue's" appearance is fairly specific: a human-like person with nine eyes.
[
When Obito caused the statue to transform, it not only lost it's "identity" chakra and absorbed natural energy, but also appeared just like a user of Sage transformation would, with black sclera.
[
The Gedo statue I believe, is under a temporary Sage transformation, and it is very similar to the conditions of Jugo's Sage transformation, where they appear to develop destructive personalities.
[
[
They also share a similar ability in the power to "detach" flesh.
[
[
[
Undoubtably, the "statue" would have to be the "true" source of the power to take in natural energy in general.
[...]
Moving on, I noticed weeks ago that the !0 tails' "flesh absorption" was very similar to Orochimaru's body transfer jutsu.
[
[
In both instances, the Sharingan was able to take control of the situation.
[

[...]
The next thing I came across, was that the way Sasuke [Or anyone] could use Susanoo, was via a partial manifestation, similar to the Curse's partial transformation.
[
[
Looking more closely, the Susano'o's Yamabushi Tengu and Karasu Tengu transformations have a "scale" style to their arms. The perfect Susano'o takes this to the extreme.
[
[
This was very similar to the style of "scale" used for the Sage transformations.
What am I suggesting?
I believe there is a link between the Susano'o and the Sage transformation. Despite the fact that the Susano'o is so far just chakra, it has all the makings of an incomplete Yin-Yang jutsu. And Sage mode could afford Sasuke the opportunity to "complete" the Susanoo as a living entity.
[
[
Kishimoto presented Sasuke as a "hawk" that shed his scales, but I believe that's only half-true [Obviously it's out the window now that he's summoning snakes again].
On an older chapter color art, Sasuke was shown with wings.
[
This I believe, is some indication that not only will Sasuke be re-given Sage transformation, but also that Sage transformation will play a significant role in the power, design, and application of "Susano'o".
This would also confirm the implied link between the Sharingan and Sage energy.

that ish was long to read. You misunderstood a few points. Sasuke's chakra change was due to him slumbering into the (mental) darkness. And where was it stated that there was a connection between sage mode and sharingan ?
