Way too convenient coincidences?

In light of the recent Danzo discussion I thought of his failures a bit (writing-wise) and this came into my mind: wasn't it a little too convenient that Ao just happened to have the perfect combination needed to uncover Danzo's manipulations? I mean, not only he had Byakugan to see chakra flow, he also fought Shisui and remembered his chakra color. In other words, not only this certain ninja had precisely what was needed but he also happened to be in the same room.. How lucky for the good guys! It seems like Kishi created Ao with this single purpose :p

I'm not exactly complaining, I realise this is how writing goes, but this case kind of bends the laws of probability. Have you every felt this way? I'm not talking about so-called asspulls or plotholes, but rather coincidences that seem too improbable (or at least would seem in real life).

That's by definition what we like to call plot no jutso.

yeah I know what you mean.. its like what Itachi did to Kabuto made OROchimaru this way.. <.<
It would have been nice to visit some other villages and took the story through them to get a better feel for the newer characters that just popped up.

When I see a character that looks cool go to waste / fail to use it full potential I be like:
You must be registered for see images

after the character dies...

Is it a coincidence that Minato fought with Ay?

Same thing here, Ao is highly respected in his village as he was chosen to guard the Mizukage. And looking at the other Kage guards at the summit, we can confirm this. Ao probably fought Shisui, who is one of the strongest in Konoha, on a mission given by Danzo against the hidden mist village.

It's the combination of three factors that seems a bit too perfect

- having the Byakugan
PLUS
- having fought Shisui
PLUS
- being there

That's seriouly lucky :p

I guess it makes sense actually for AO to be her bodyguard.. I mean look who was left..
all the previous Mizukage are dead... all the seven swordsmen were dead or left the village & only 1 was left..
they had no strong shinobi for some reason..

last 5 Mist village shinobi

Rip Ao died by the bomb of the fugly-ass juubi.

OT: Yeah; his character's sole purpose was that...but atleast he had a purpose unlike bodyguards from rock village who were just there.

ao has lived a long time so him having fought shisui isnt that hard to believe and probably the reason he was chose as a bodyguard for the mizukage is because he has byakugan. things in storys do sometimes appear to be a coincidence but thats just called plot and the story wouldnt be as interesting with out these so called coincidences and besides Ao having byakugan and having fought shisui makes the world of naruto and its characters that more connected to each other instead of just being a new addition to the character roster

Well, I have already accepted the fact that the ninja world is very small and everyone basically fought everyone, and Kishi can conveniently bring it up whenever he needs it for the plot :p

I mean, they can get anywhere they need on foot. And it takes them less than a week. That means their whole world is smaller than a region of Russia that I live in. So it does kind of makes sense that many of them met each other.

Oh you're right, forgot about the Byakugan :p

Him being there and fighting Shisui before isn't alarming. But having Byakugan in addition to those things does seem a bit weird.
