It made sense, only reason people don't like it is because it requries you to think.

It didn't require you to think. It was a cripple who was pissed at humanity joined forces with giant blue things through the use of an avatar. Many things happen for no reason. The aliens win. The human becomes completely alien through magic or god or some crap like that. There. That was the entire plot. No thinking required
