So I have this theory about how things are in the Attack on Titan world.

There are 3 power forces.

1) Titans
2) Modified humans that can transform to titans
3) Humans in the walls

The titans are led by this guy :

This one possesses intellect as he has proven in the manga (reference to Darwin's evolution theory? who knows).

What troubles me now is this. I can never be sure whether the mindless happy-go-lucky titans are his tribe or if there are other, hairy titans like him, with intellect, that are the REAL threat and the REAL reason for humanity's problems.

Quite crazy you say? And what are the mindless titans then? What if they are failed experiments to create the Titan's Power that the modified humans currently possess?
Makes sense in a way because the hairy titan is like a gorilla whereas the mindless titans are more like humans so how can he be above them intellectually? Again this is not necessarily true but it is weird.

But then again why should the modified humans attack the walls? This is really puzzling. Let's say that the government inside the walls is opposed to the modified humans base . Unless they did so in order to gain something it makes no sense. But they didn't. Or did they? No idea here.
Maybe what Annie's father told her has some deeper meaning. Why should she "hate the whole world" and "come find him"?

What is quite obvious is that Eren's father is in the modified humans base and conducts experiments there.

I am really puzzled and the fact that the manga come only every month doesn't help :p
Any ideas?

My guess is this...Titans are a failed Super Human weapon program...just went wrong.

As we learnt about Ymir: Titans were once human, and after 60 years, Ymir returned to human form.

That being said, the Dumb Titans are likely just rogue elements.

I think the Ape Titan is probably not the leader of the Shifter Titans, but instead is an advisor/scientist role. I think whomever heads Reiner and Bertholdt's Warrior Tribe has yet to be introduced; however, this Ape sits as the right hand man to him/her.

Also, their goal seems to be freeing the Titans in the wall who I guess have some connection to the Warrior leader, or have some experimental purpose. St this point it's hard to say.

Good effort.

I used to think of theories for AoT but I gave up when I realized that we will not get any answer for a long time. Every chapter raises more questions than answers or even hints.

Hm so it was all started by humans you say? Like a country decided to create a super weapon to dominate others but it went horribly wrong.
That can work too, nice.

But I disagree on the part that the hairy Titan is human and is connected to the Shifters because when he attacked that guy he took the 3D maneuver gear with him. So he had no idea about that. How can this be if he is connected to the humans and even worse if he is Eren's father?
Not quite working. It was my initial thought too though.

Yes maybe the Ape isn't the leader because the leader doesn't usually go openly outside. Right hand he is indeed most probably, I agree.

Hm, yes those titans are a big mystery too.

But what is clear is that actually the Warriors don't seem like the bad guys at all. Because Bertholdt said "Someone has to do it!"

So it all comes down to what Erwin said there. Who is the REAL enemy of humanity?

Good theory, i agree. Do you think Eren's father is a modified titan himself?

Eren's father is most probably a scientist who conducts the experiments to make the Titan Power. If he is a Shifter himself too we can only wonder.

While I am not the OP...I'd say either his father IS the Ape Titan, or he's not a titan, but being held in the Titan Shifter village.

Hm... i don't think he's the Ape. Ape didn't know about the 3D gear. I think Eren's father is maybe like Eren - only a shifter.

Also it must be a connection with the titans from the `wall`.

Eren's father couldn't have start the experiment, he's not 100 years old (or maybe he is). It seems fishy that he disappeared everytime, though.

Yes, he definitely did not start the experiment but must have obviously participated in the research at some point of time as he clearly "infected" Eren with the Titan Power.

Dem titans in the wall are really mysterious. Maybe the government used them just to be able to make the walls!?

But the Shifters (Ryner/Bertholdt) didn't attack the walls to free them. Because we didn't see anything of the sort.

I don't think the government useed them. Most likeley they were infected people who tried to help the normal people not to be eaten by the titans.

I'm pretty confused myself, lol.

I think that what was meant to happen was a human evolution. The scientist were trying to get human to evolve again by creating, let's say a drug of some kind, and it went wrong. It's just like a zombie apocalypse.
