Alright i need assistance with this math problem

The area of a rectangle is 6x2-5x-4. The width is 2x+1. What is the length?

very simple problem, but i am stuck. Please help!

You just need to divide the area by the width to get the length since A = W*L. So,

(6x^2 -5x - 4)/(2x + 1)

First 2x goes into 6x^2 by 3x times. Then you have (6x^2 -5x - 4) - (6x^2 - 3x) = -8x - 4
Finally -4*(2x+1) = -8x - 4
So the answer is 3x - 4.
