Something happened to me today around 5:30am that I think it's pretty interesting. First off I wanna say I'm prescribed an SSRI called Paxil. SSRI's slow down the process in which the liver breaks down DMT. So to start the story off my girlfriend wakes me up around 5:30am freaking out from a bad dream, I thought this was strange because out of the five years we've been together she's only done this two other times. So I wake up and calm her down so easily that its crazy, she literally went from freaking out, heart thumping, to calm, and asleep in mere seconds. So after I get her to sleep I notice that I feel a warm glow in my body and I think to myself I've felt this way before, when I tripped mushrooms. Then I look around my room, and it looks larger than usual (at this point I'm starting to realize what's going on). Then I look at this blue light that's on the fan in my room. I notice its very distorted, at this point I'm looking all around my room. I then stand up (I felt as though a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, almost like I was floating) and decide to use the bathroom, as soon as I get in, I look at my face in the mirror, I notice my freckles on my face all moving around in small circular directions, I look at the towel besides me it's practically glowing (the towel is a sky blue color with bleach stains, and now it looks like a bright neon blueish sort of color). I then realize I'm trippin, but I don't know why and I'm starting to get scared (thinking I'm drugged, or going crazy). I wake up my girlfriend, tell her what's going on, and she actually believes me. I lay back down with her, and she says do you think it's your Paxil (I'm still tripping at this point, but lightly now). This is when I come up with a theory.

My theory is that my girlfriend woke me up during R.E.M. sleep, and my brain was releasing DMT. Now Paxil like I said is and SSRI, I'm not sure if you know much about them or not, but SSRI stands for selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor, and it basically helps the brain release more serotonin, but it also slow down the process in which the liver breaks down the natural DMT, the brain releases. When ayahuasca is made natural SSRI's are added so that you actually are able to trip. With out the SSRI's, the liver would break down the DMT to fast to be able to trip off of it.

So I believe I tripped from the own natural DMT my brain was making (though the trip lasted only 10-15 minuts). The Paxil I was taking was slowing down how fast my body was breaking down DMT during my R.E.M. sleep, and my girlfriend woke me up at just the right time so that I could actually feel the DMT my brain was creating. Now I've been waking up a lot lately feeling this warm glow and this familiar feeling of tripping, it's not an every day thing but it happens about once, or twice a week. So I basically believe I tripped from my own DMT due to the Paxil I've been taking every day for the last two months.

Now one thing different though, is that this trip felt natural. I had no stomach discomfort like I did when I ate mushrooms, and didn't feel super energetic like with acid. When I stood up to use the bathroom, I actually felt as thought a weight had been lifted from my shoulders, like as if I was floating. It was a great feeling.

I'm still trying to get a hold of DMT to this very day. Almost sounds like astral projection, except you didn't mention leaving your body, and you also said that you were talking to your girlfriend. Anyways, it sounds awesome!

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooor. Due you be being awoken so abruptly your brain wasn't ready to react/adjust to your surrounds/images.

It isn't common (but I wouldn't call it rare, either) to have hallucinations while taking a therapeutic dosage of the stronger SSRIs - including Paxil. You might very well be biologically wired to have this effect from Paroxetine. Seeing as you haven't been on it that long and this is a recurring side-effect, I would visit your psychiatrist/GP to get their opinion. Based on my experience and education on the topic, I highly doubt it has any correlation to naturally-occuring DMT production. In fact, DMT production is only, technically, a theory at this point. There is some positive evidence out there, but it would still take extremely high levels of DMT to produce acid/ayahuasca-type hallucinogenic effects.

Quite fascinating to the say the least.
I taken ecstasy in the past so i am somewhat familiar with unbalanced serotonin levels.

Have you heard of the move Jennifer's Body ?

I settled down to watch a movie with this girl i was seeing at the time (Still pretty much under the effects of it)

The movie seemed to go on forever and only when we turned the movie off did i realize that i was not apart of it lol (Oh and the amount of time that really went by was 44 minutes) So yeah i was so far gone that i couldn't make out time

No that's definitely not it I've taken psyliocyben mushrooms, and acid I know what a trip feels like. Plus this lasted 10-15 minutes.

Due to the SSRI I've been taking my liver wasn't able to break down the DMT the pineal gland in my brain was producing. Also it as been scientifically proven that during R.E.M. sleep the pineal glands the brain creates copious amounts of DMT, unlike the the small amounts it produces throughout the day.

I'm 23 years old I have no mental illness', nor does my family show history of any. I'm certain that this happened because of the Paxil I'm taking, and the unlikely event of being interrupted at 5:30 in the morning while in R.E.M. sleep, during a great night of sleep. I believe I was going through a natural trip. My brain may be wired so that my pineal gland produces more natural amounts of DMT than the average persons.

Like I said three things factored into this natural trip:

1. I was going through R.E.M. sleep so my brain was producing much DMT.

2. The Paxil which is an SSRI I was taking slowed down the time it took my liver to break down the DMT my pineal gland was producing (for those of you who don't know SSRI's are a main ingredient needed in the production of ayahuasca in order for for the DMT in the mimosa hostilis to wrk, because SSRI's slow down the way DMT is broken down in the liver).

3. Being woken up during R.E.M. sleep and staying up allowed me realize I was in fact tripping.
