How many gates can Kakashi open?

We know Kakashi can open at least one gate, because he did so in the manga.

However, Naruto stated Kakashi was better in taijutsu than Lee who could use 5 gates.

Taking that into account I think it is quite possible Kakashi could open 5 gates or more. On the other hand, such ability would be so useful that I highly doubt he wouldn't have used it if he had it all along.

i dunno, i think he was talking about base lee and kakashi (as a result of his sharingan precog). also, kakashi doesnt train his body as rigorously as lee and guy, so the gates would take a much harsher toll on his body.

Good point. Lee was still a genin, his taijutsu was great, but great for genin standards. Even without using any gates the jonins were most likely better in taijutsu.

Yeah, Lee and Gai undergo intense physical training in order to open as many gates as they do. Probably so their body can handle it. Kakashi doesn't.
