Why do people think Hiruzen has anything worthwhile in store for us?

There seems to be false hope that's lingering around the base... people are hoping that Hiruzen will show us anything that will make him Top 10 based off of invalidated hype from over 500 chapters ago.

Per his own admittance, Hiruzen wouldn't have been able to stand up to Orochimaru to a one-on-one fight:

You can say he has unlimited stamina now, compared to before, but the fact remains that he still has the speed and strength of an average shinobi; even his son Asuma was faster (a great deal faster). The only person that Hiruzen being an Edo would put him above is Tsunade, but going by his own words he's still under Part 1 Orochimaru, much less Sage Mode Jiraiya and his toads, much less current Orochimaru.

People have that false hope because there was so much hype around him. He was said to be the strongest Kage of his time. That means he was supposedly stronger than A, 4th Kazekage, Ohnoki, and Mei. From what we've seen, I find that hype hard to believe. I don't think we'll see anything spectacular from Hiruzen though, it's like Kishi has retconned all that past hype for Hiruzen. I don't think Hiruzen could ever even reach top 15 much less top 10.

Because every other Kage has had their chance to shine so far, except for him. He's only shown 1 tech, and that was a lame one that Naruto did when he was first fighting Zabuza.

He's gonna make a huge comeback in a few chapters and make a spot in the top 3 soon, his bandwagon is on the way.

What? He admitted inferiority to Part 1 Orochimaru; he doubted he could even stand up to the might of his student. The only difference between that Hiruzen and Edo Hiruzen is that Edo Hiruzen has unlimited stamina and needs to be sealed. However, the difference between Part 1 Orochimaru and current Orochimaru is a body filled with Hashirama's cells, and we all know what Hashirama's cells can do to one. Hiruzen's below current Orochimaru, and it's hard to say he would win against Sage Mode Jiraiya and Gamaken, Gamabunta, Gamakichi, etc.

That's just as valid as the statement saying he was the strongest Kage at the time of his death, putting him above the Yondaime Raikage, Onoki, Yagura(?), and the Yondaime Kazekage. And we all know how true that is, considering the fact that per his own admittance he couldn't stand up to the might of Part 1 Orochimaru. How would he even get close to the Yondaime Kazekage? How would he react to the speed of the Yondaime Raikage? What would he do against jinton? How would he be able to outlast Yagura?

Yes. Hiruzen doesn't have the stamina to kill Danzo twice over, let alone ten times over. However, before Danzo cheated, he was only one step behind Hiruzen.

I feel the same, he may come off as weak compared to the other Kages but Hiruzen is still an awesome person. He was like the father or grandfather of all of Konoha during his time and I had alot of respect for him for that.

By his own words, Hiruzen wouldn't be able to stand up to Part 1 Orochimaru if he weren't an Edo. The only difference now is that he has unlimited stamina (and we already know that they can't use more chakra than what they were able to use during their lifetime, as shown when Muu split in half or when the Nidaime Mizukage was using Jokey Boy). No way he's standing up to Sage Mode Jiraiya, Gamakichi, Gamabunta, Gamaken, and Gamahiro when his own words prove otherwise.

He was called the god of shinobi, He isn't in his prime, he is old and he still did a pretty good job against Oro considering his age.
