[Theory] naruto regenerates the chakra he uses to create clones.

And I'm adding to the discussion. I'm saying that it's only logical that he regenerates chakra even when he has clones.
The idea that he should just create an army of clones and then release them when he needs chakra is ... illogical.
You said it yourself, when Naruto creates clones he divides his chakra between them equally.
So let's say he creates 1000 clones and each clone has 1/1000 from his chakra. It's quite logical to see why he doesn't do what you suggest and keep them for later use.

Every single clone has 1/1000 of his chakra...therefore those clones will eventually puff away as they will use up their chakra. As a ninja, you unconsciously use even a minimum of your chakra even at simple movements.
If the clones would just sit unmoving... yeah, they wouldn't use up their chakra but on the other hand, they wouldn't just sit for days... each clone has Naruto's personality so can you see them do nothing for days? Those two that gathered nature chakra were aware that it was needed for his fight with Pein. They wouldn't however, do it simply because he may need the chakra later.

yes but you see then it should not have helped for naruto to use the clones to gather nature energy.. its a 33% 33% 33% ratio so if he gives each clone 33% of his chakra, and he goes to battle with 33% himself, the sage clones don't add anything.
so if you look at it that way then he only went against pain with 33% of his chakra..
but why would it help to have 33% 3 times or 100% 1 time? beats me.
it should be like this: 50% chakra on one clone, wait for his chakra to reacummulate and create another clone.

He makes 3 clones.
All 4 (including the real Naruto), have 25 chakra.
That 25, might be their maximum, meaning 25/25, rather than 25/100.
I can imagine the original has 25/100 though, but the clones could be 25/25.

That would be so over the top if the clones all have 25/100. Naruto's chakra would be without limits.
Kage bunshin already is quite insane, in the hands of someone with high chakra reserves. This would really make it so extremely over the top. So I guess its safe to say a clone is 25/25 and not 25/100.

Btw, do clones need to eat and drink?
If they have to, than it will be near impossible to create clones, regenerate the originals chakra, create more clones and use them like a Byakugo seal, unless your village has way to much food and drink supplies =D, beause you would need to keep your clones alive. They need to eat, drink, sleep, live a life(will go insane from sitting still for days, weeks, years) etc. They cant just sit still until they are used for an energy boost (unless for a short while).

Of course not, at least few hours, so he would able to do maybe 10 clones a day and they would be just a hindrance. Doing that before war or fight would just take too much time. It's not practical.

Ofc that Minato's and Kushina's chakra survived in Naruto for a decade. This chakra was stored in special seal that reacted on specific situation (Kurama taking over) and this chakra had no way of being used up. You can think of it as a air bubble inside closed area full of vaccum. The air bubble would be there forever.

I was only reacting to your statement that the maintenance of the clones would be better than of fodder ninja, which suggests that you would get rid of those fodder ninja. The actual maintenance of the clones... well... it's more of the weirdness of the situation than the actual needed food. Imagine that you should live with another 10 versions of you... weird for you or anyone else.

You need to go to the toilet to as a clone and move around to make your blood flow, have a house and bed to sleep in and probably more things. The OP is missing the fact that the clones can't be maintained forever. If Naruto loses consciousness the would disperse. If the chakra flow of the original was disturbed they would disperse. Finally they would consume the set amount of chakra they have just by existing until they disperse.

Hhm so what you are saying is that the clones loose chakra faster than Naruto regenerates it? But we have seen clones gathering their own chakra (at the madara vs hokage fight)
