Share your odd experiences at work.
A few moments I remember:
When working at a restaurant 5 years ago, I was managing the Thai wok department.
- This german guy refused to talk english or even try to speak a Dutch word and just kept talking in german to me with a smug expression that expected me to understand him. He stood there for a while as the line of waiting customers behind him grew. xD
- A guy walked in, took a bite of one of our sandwiches in the display, put it back and then left the building like nothing happened.
When working at a chinese restaurant:
- The assistant manager had an attitude towards me from day one. I did, and I'm 100%, I did nothing to be obset about in the 6 months that I worked there. Always kept my cool in front of those disrespectful, distant chinese mofos.
So, one day I asked the assistant manager to sign the schedule agreement for me. She then started to yell at me in front of customers, stumbling over her tongue as she tried to find a legit reason to be angry at me. I just stood there for a while and left. Later on, I heard she got corrected by any other employee over there. I know I'm generalizing, but I have 3 other friends who all worked at different chinese restaurants and they all had bad experiences having to deal with anxious, disrespectfull co-staff.
When working at a construction site (which I hated)
- Meeting the strangest guys. One was a ex-cocaine dealer, eager to show me pictures of his guns at home.
The other was younger than me, and told me he'd been in nearly every city of Holland visiting prostitutes.
Another one smelled so bad I felt a heat wave of stench against my face when sitting next to him in the car.
When working at a store
- A guy came in, asking me how to print photos so I helped him.
A noticed the pictures and he showed me them with pride. He showed me pics of 6 container bags filled with marijuana. Damn. As he tried to flirt with my colleges, (I was the only guy at the store) he was ignored. He then proceeded to call them lesbians as he walked away.
