I need help

hey, this is gonna sound weird but keep until the end and try and help me.

i need a good idea for a chatterbox thread, you see i made like 4 that got locked and deleted because i thought that threads where you chat and talk would be appropriate in a chatterbox forum, apperently i was wrong. so i need your help in finding a good topic to start a thread with.

the topic needs to be appropriate to the forum, it needs to be good enough to start conversations and be interesting.

P.S. things like chatter thread or how you feel thread or ask me questions thread apperently don't get into the category of chatterbox. so don't give me those. i'm looking for a thread topic that will be accepted by moderators and will be interesting to talk about.

edit: it appears that the thread "Sing soft kitty for me!!!" is a valid topic, more valid then ask me questions. so if you have something along that lines please post here

nah, that topic makes sense, it will never be accepted by moderators...

i need something weird and out of place, something that can only vaguely relate to the forum but not enough to be meaningfull...

Make a thread where people can post about their daily frustrations. Like an anger/sad thread.

How about making threads only when you know what you want to talk about? Seriously.. It is not obligatory to make a thread and post. It's a forum basically not a chat room. If you want to chat with your friends their are social groups and VMs.

I just don't see any thread like that happening without placing limits on it which would restrict the range of convo and defeat the purpose. There's one in the premium section, and you can basically create any thread you want there. But it's not a very active section.

Guess we just have to deal with it.

thats actully a good idea, i can make a depression thread where we try and make people feel happy and socially accepted. that thread might not get deleted

this forum have a 300 page sticky thread about who is looking at your profile. but a chatting thread is not good and takes forum space?

because it is a chatting thread people won't mind it getting deleted after sometime, but let us open a new one to chat and then delete that one after enough time. so it will be like we take a constant memory space in the forum server. if we can chat for 20 pages, then delete the 20 pages thread and start over it won't take any load on the server and this forum will serve his porpuse.

lol why are you speaking to me like I'm against it? I'm just speaking under the premise it will never be allowed, which is derived from experience. You can create a thread that follows a certain topic, but that's not against the rules anyway, which means there's no problem. The problem I believe we're having is trying to create a thread where people can start random conversations (however interesting they are). The staff is heavily opposed to that idea. Yeah, we can make it work (I've seen it on other forums). But the staff is not in favor of it, so we may as well be just one knight at the round table.

Yea we do not discuss Naruto on Narutobase at all. And no that or manga/anime in general is not a common interest for most people here. :|

Please remember that in the end it's a manga/ anime forum not FB. Those who are interested in knowing you, can contact you via VM. Which serves the purpose well and saves space. Talking about animated character's personality is inflammatory enough. Most people won't be able to handle the real responses at one point or another.

If what makes sense to you does not make sense to moderators that means you are either unable to make your case properly or you have a very miopic view and missing a lot of fine details for various reasons.

If someone is feeling down due to some particular reason at some point they can make their own thread and talk to people. It can be closed or deleted easily later on if problems arise. Many people with genuine problems actually message us to delete such threads after a while because they do not want to be quoted on it or to keep it up out there.

Otherwise, personal problem threads are forbidden in rules in general. No one here is an expert and qualified to give real advice. No it's not one stop shop for all your needs. Endless threads with personal issues is not feasible at all.

Chatterbox works just fine for most people who want to chat about something specific. It's not a replacement for chat rooms.

I think they see it more as a section to create threads of anything you want as long as it sticks to a topic and doesn't encourage spam. An example, there was the Naruto Discussion section, the General Discussion section, the Konoha IT. But then one day, someone said, "We don't have a section where I can talk about how many licks it take to get the center of tootsie pop, or how the members start their morning." Then they (the staff) created a section where members can create threads of such topics within a section titled 'Chatterbox'. So there's the Naruto Discussion Section for Naruto, General Discussion for news and important topics, then chatterbox for 'chat'. But, all the threads created in them have to stick to a topic. The Chatterbox is no exception I suppose.

Well, that's what I learned through experience and reasoning anyway.

i am not perfect, but neither do moderators. i know for certain there are many people on this forum that want a chatting thread, are you certain it's a ad idea to make one? as i said you can delete it after a certain threshhold so that it won't take to much space and we will have the thread that we want.

This section is full of chat threads, sir. And they stay. It's easier to find interesting posts and topics discussed at NB over the years.

Single free for all chat threads work only on small forums, for separate threads die out too soon and too quickly. In a 20 page long thread at NB no one can keep track of convo or direction. Threads can get past that limit in much less than an hour around here.

Off course no one is perfect. As soon as you typed that first sentence about posting Naruto threads in chatterbox, you won. Now I feel silly that I thought we could have some reasonable exchange of opinions. Sorry for over-estimating your reasoning ability.

Please take your complaint/suggestion directly to an admin if you want to continue. Send a PM to them. Do not another thread about it.
