@OP: If you want to watch One Piece, I recommend you start from the beginning. The opening events always seem to be of relevance to the story in future episodes.
Don't listen to this guy. If you want to enjoy One Piece, you have got to enjoy it to the fullest, from the start.Well I never started from the beginning and im probably more knowledgeable than most who have spent hours watching the entire series (mainly cos I have no life :|)
My friend started it from the beginning and is thinking of skipping straight to the war arc.
I started from Saboady Archipelago.
If anyone is interested in starting from here (which I recommend) here are the links for where they start in the anime and manga ^_^ from here if you keep watching you eventually pick up on stuff. Then once you have caught up go back and read a few arcs if you have the time. Most you could skip and just read about on a wiki or something. People will say it doesn't have the same effect but this is the quickest way.
